@mike19950 I wanted to add that if you don't want to cut you headliner to install the console. I mounted my module behind the gauge cluster using some double sided tape to the defrost duct, and it works perfectly.

Just got done installing my module in the same spot. Works great. Just gotta calibrate it now.

My truck came from the factory with the trailer brake option. I have the 8.4 now but I'm pretty sure they showed up on my RA2 5" as well before I installed the 8.4.

I have the TBC from the factory and they definitely showed up on my RA2 5.0 Radio.

I bought the plug and pins deereguy posted in the compass thread and a crimper off Amazon. Was really simple. Made it too long I could probably move it behind the glove box if I wanted to. Lol

Hello Guys, I've been trying to read through this thread for hours now. GREAT INFO.

I'm have a 2008 Ram 2500, I just found out about the OBDLink MX tool. I've been trying to research the functionality of this, and with the 2008 models rams.
I was just about to buy the BlueDriver OBD tool, Can anyone give me any input, recommendation, as to which I should go with.
Is the OBDLink MX have more functionality? (It sounds like it does)
Or does the BlueDriver have any features that the OBDLink doesn't?

Can anyone enlighten me? Or know of a link that will help?

Much appreciated

There might be others but this is what I could quickly find.

PTS Type and Display Location (Headliner or No Display Programmed/Instrument Cluster PTS Display/Auto PTS Display)

PTS Configuration (Rear/Front and Rear/Semi-automatic)

PTS Parktronics (Enable/Disable)

There might also be something in the CSMs but I was looking through the Windows version while not connected to my BCM.

Thanks.....I might try that PTS configuration, I think you could get just the rear parking sensors so maybe that'll just disable the front parking sensors only....hmmm

Credit is due to all who has done write-ups previously

I know that there are a few step by step instructions on how to add some features. Some are fairly detailed and some I felt could use some help. So I tried to do as detailed write-ups w/pic's for the one's I've used. If there is something that could be added feel free to message me and I'll add/change it. I will try and continue to add more as time allows and as I gain more information and tweak things as I add parts to my truck.

@1500ram12 Great job and thank you! Linking from OP.

@Ghostman I have the BlueDriver and the OBDLink Bluetooth MX. In my opinion the OBDLink MX is definitely by far the better choice for AlfaOBD (above others that have been listed). I and others have had zero issues with using this adapter.

The BlueDriver in my opinion is a little overpriced. Since I have gotten Alfa and OBDLink I haven't really used it. Below are some resource links to show what each is capable of.

While there might be a few things that Blue does that Alfa does not, I guess it just all depends on what you're wanting to do. If it is for clearing codes or even live data logging then Alfa can easily do this as well.

Has anyone had issues receiving their activation code? I purchased the program last Friday and immediately sent the activation request by email and still haven’t heard back from AlphaOBD.

Usually doesn't take that long. Be sure to check your spam folder just in case. If you don't receive it today, just send him another message.

Thank you for that info @Ghost_RAM , I think i'm going to order the OBDLink MX, and see how it does.

And a great thanks to ALL who share their knowledge and experience

I’m having a issue with getting changes to stick. I had a tail light go out so I installed LED bulbs but was getting left/right turn signal bulb out message. So after reading about the AloaOBD I bought the OBDLink MX and Alpaobd for windows.
Got everything working changed brake, tail, turn lights to LED=yes.
Message says it was complete I disconnected let truck set for a while 1-3 hours. Ran to the store and turn signal R,L bulb message came on when I started the truck.
So when I got home I reconnected to truck it shows as LED are set to yes. So I disconnected went inside for a while 20-30 min desided to see is it was still showing message but now all good no message.
So I call it a night and left for work yesterday and the bulb out message was back. While at lunch I connected to truck found led still show as YES. Went back to work but when I left to go home 3-4 he later the message never came back on. But this morning I have the bulb out message again. Is there something I’m doing wrong or not doing?

2014 Ram 3500 Tradesmen only added RA3 other wise it’s the was it came from Ram
