Changed the oil in mine today, included a Mobil 1 premium filter. Also removed my factory blackout running boards, always preferred that looks and its surprising how much more ground clearance you get with them gone. Not impressed with Rams factory design of both points of mounting being in through the rocker panels. The lower mounting point that grabs the pinch weld has damage to the paint from metal on metal contact from the factory and is starting to rust already. going to be trying to get this warrantied on my dealer trip along with the premature box rust...... not sure what Ram was thinking on these 4th gens with this design for mounting steps, not cool.

I had a set of Go Rhinos that used the stock mounting points, but better hardware (brackets that you "tilt" inside the rocker panel and studs that come out of the factory holes, instead of using rivnuts everywhere). I just dont like the idea of anything mounting to the rocker panel no matter how much support the hardware gives.

Luverne makes a set for our trucks that use the body bolt mounts and rubber "bumpers" that push against the frame. So no more potential for rocker panel damage and honestly they feel a little sturdier because nothing gives when you step on them.

My front driver side one touch up window feature stopped working. One touch down works, just not up... Lame

No pics, but I had a blast ice-skating to work today.

Okay, here's how it went...

First 30 miles, 2WD, no sweat. I should mention that the first 30 miles are twisty mountain roads. The temps were in the mid-20s, and the county only uses gravel (on the blacktop) for traction, yet everything was just fine - took it cautiously, and the truck more than held its grip.

Last 20 miles? Sucked donkey balls. This is the part where I get to civilization, roads that were sheer sheets of ice from all the traffic, and everybody forgot how to drive. I put into 4Hi at the first stoplight, and things went better.

Then the best part: Getting off the highway, and the dude sees me trying to merge into his lane (I had a ton of room and the gap was growing), and for some odd reason --after I committed and started merging-- this guy decides to speed up... on ice! So I'm cautiously moving over, turn signal was on long before I started moving, then my blind-spot mirror tells me he's right on my ass and starting to swerve wildly. I was, as mentioned, committed, so swerving back out on ice wasn't gonna happen, and you know what? His econobox could end up a hitch decoration for all I cared at that point. He bounced off the ridge of ice on the outside of his lane and by some miracle finds traction enough to regain control and slow down. I noticed he didn't try and gesture at me as he finally passed after we got off the road, so there was that, I guess.

BUT! The moral of the story is that holy crap does this truck hold its grip on ice! I only broke traction once, and only once - after I put it in 4Hi, it was fine (but remember, 4WD does not mean 4W-stop, kids!) I'll probably grab some bags of rock salt and toss 'em in the bed tomorrow (no worries, got a bedliner).

PS: The really ironic part? I'm still driving on the factory Goodyears, 26k miles in.

Hahaha thanks! Each application served a purpose. Flexy flaps and flares on anything that sees offroad is a must, I blew a cops windshield out pretty bad with my jeep so after that I always make an attempt as a courtesy to run them. Molded flaps looked better on my f150 but it was a pretty boy truck, granted they didn't cover as well. This rig is gonna see some abuse, so I need something flexible, figure I'll try another variant. Time is money for me any more so the quicker the install at a good price point the better off I am. Someone has to try things out, I abuse everything I touch so it's always a safe bet I'll find it's short comings.

Heck, did I miss a thread on all these flap tests? Lol

How do you like the mufflex. Been thinking about getting it.

I'd like a carven, but I doubt the wife would like it. Lol

A lot quieter and more mellow. Going from the Carven to the 24 definitely a huge difference. Sounds good and louder at WOT but other then that it’s pretty tame.

No, I don't have pictures of all these variations anymore. I can do a thread once I get my new flaps.

Mine are in the online cart, so I'll probably pull the trigger today...it'll be nice not having that road spray on my rig anymore! Thanks again...I had never heard of Rokblokz until you mentioned it.
