That’s good, at least some people do, I spose. Sorry, it’s just that the console shifter in my opinion has too much car written all over it and doesn’t work in a truck, sorry. That, and Phord started that BS long time ago before Ram and Ram copied it.

Just don’t care for it, ain’t driving a car or a minivan. At least the dial shifter in the 8-speeds is on the dash, like the rotary dial for the transfer case used to be on the dash.

Just me, I spose.

"Like the dial for the transfer case used to be on the dash".... Ummm., not sure how old you are but the shifter for the transfer case was on the floor FOREVER before it was a crappy knob on the dash. Lol!!! Seems more like a minivan when all you a touching is knobs...haha!!

Yeah, when you go wayyyyyy that damn far back. Lol. The ole 08 Ram I had, had an electric shift-on-the-fly dial knob on the dash, pretty much in the same damn spot as the dial shifter for the trans in my new 18.

Guess you don’t approve of the new push-button transfer case gear selector either now, do ya?

Bottom line, console shifters belong in cars.... not trucks.

Figured I’d also mention that the 04 Dakota that the ex wife and I had long ago, also had a dial knob shifter for the transfer case on the dash for it as well.

So see, they been using a dial knob for a gearbox shifter in a truck for as far back at least as 15 years ago.

But what’s next, hate for the dimmer switch now since it’s on the column and hasn’t been on the floor for what, 25-30 years?....lol.

We have Chargers at work, all of which have the column shifter. I think having a column shifter in my truck too, would make the truck feel like a car to me, especially after spending all day in the Chargers.

Anyway, ideas for a new rotary shifter knob:
An off road tire (for the 4x4 guys),
a racing tire, (for the lowered truck guys)
a ninja star (for the ninja guys)
a rifle round where the bullet points to the selected gear (for the gun/hunting guys)
a boat prop or fishing rod (for the fishermen)
a scuba tank or fin (for the divers)
a spatula or tongs (for the grillers)

I thought I'd hate this too, but I have gotten used to it. It really isn't a big deal anymore, but I do hate the auto park if the drivers door is open, especially when hooking up a trailer! But if someone comes up with a cool option to replace the knob I'd be game for a reasonable price

so weird how much it bothers people to have a dial shifter... lol

I like the rotary dial, i like the extra room i got in the console..It would be different if the old console shifters were mechanical, i would want one, but since they were electronic it doesn't matter..

Very simple solution to that auto park; throw your seatbelt on either over you or behind you, or get you one of them seatbelt plug in clip things, or a short seatbelt extender and you won’t ever have that problem again with your transmission ramming itself into park when you open the door while in gear.

Well, have you got it yet? I like that gear, and actually got a cool idea for it instead of using the B&M cap that goes on the face of it but I’m curious how big the decorative cap is that comes with it. I found this brushed Mopar cover that might look badass in the place of that B&M logo cap.

Only thing tho, it might look a little goofy when you’re driving because it won’t be straight up and down unless it’s in park...lol.

Yeah I know, that 8 speed with the rotary dial shifter in the Ram has been out since what, 2013? You’d think there’d be all sorts of options.

Just put it in...no pics yet other than comparing the stock knob to the B&M
The 'face' is a bit of a pain to get back out. The factory face is a sticker while the B&M is held in by a gasket. I'll try to get it out and post a pic of the 2 'faces'5e1ac9e73f627ea3b5bf1e09317a7fe9.jpg

Yeah, the price is crazy...luckily I had a gift certificate or I'd have passed also. It is heavier than stock and is machined very well. I also like the 'gear' cutouts for a more positive feeling when turning the dial.

If the sticker is the same size as the factory insert, it would fit perfectly over the B&M lettering and leave the outside black bevel showing (would look sharp I think). I may try that after I get bored with the wording :)
