I’m installing running board lights that I want to come on with courtesy lights (unlocking/ opening doors). Where can I find a wire to tap into, maybe dome light?

I did the same thing. White courtesy, amber running. All in the same strip. I tapped the led underdash/footwell light on the passenger side for the courtesy light, the cab light wire for the running lights. Using the footwell light, the lights come on with door open and key fob press, then slowly dim the same way the interior lights do. Hope this helps.
Here is a link to the lights I used.

Thank you! The lights that I bought look just like that and that is exactly the information that I need.

How long have they been installed? Is the adhesive still strong?

I just got home from work and checked my truck. I don’t have the foot well light, so I guess will keep looking. I need to find the electrical supply for the overhead lights.

I installed them over the Christmas break.
Adhesive is doing well. Good clean prep is the key there.
Do you have puddle lights on your mirrors?

There is probably threads on here for wiring diagrams etc..., and maybe one of the other guys will chime in to help us out. But if not, here is what I would do; Pull your dome light in the rear of the cab on the ceiling. Test to see which wire is positive. Note the color of the wire. Pull the drivers side sill plate on the floor by the door. Look for that color wire. Test to confirm.
No

Good idea. I will give it a shot

You don’t need the light. The harness should be under the rear seats no matter what. Just tap into the power and ground wires there. You can come up through the in floor storage bins.

Thank you! I am still learning our trucks. I know older trucks the wires were always under the sill plate. Great to know it is easier to get to under the seat. Thanks again.

Sure! Just the fold the rear bench up and you’ll see the white harness plug.

I was only referring to 4th gens

Ok. I assumed that you were referring to 3rd gen because I posted in the 3rd gen section.

My bad I didn’t realise. The post popped up on my feed and I assumed it was 4 gen.

Can you take a photo of the wire/harness/location, would be nice to have a good visual of it for many of us, and future mods. Thanks.

I just saw the replies. I will try to remember to take a pic tomorrow
