So, washingmy truck the other day at a friends wash bay, and he comes running up spraying something on my flares. Says it’ll make them look brand new...

No amount of scrubbing, rubbing, or coating fixed it. So, ordered a new set of “smooth” ones.

Paint them black, and go back with a stock look, or paint them white and add this graphic?

I think the white with the graphics looks great.
Wait not so fast there my Ram brother. I say black with the black graphic will add contrast. Even bigger flares depending on wheel set up give it that off road buffed up look.

I like the idea of white flares on your truck. The picture with the black flares makes the it look like the wheel wells are overly large openings. Not a fan of the graphic.

I agree with all of these guys. Get them color matched. I pulled mine off, like said above they make the wheel wells look gigantic from a distance and made my 33s look itty bitty, plus you can make sure you don't have paint damage underneath. a46020eebfcde394577039bb2675c18d.jpgad286789abf5384fd43213b46317b214.jpg

What did he use on your flares ? Looks like the white stain you get from wax on black plastic !

Paint them white and go graphics

I like the idea, still not sure. Love the way the sport trucks look with one on it. Jjst bot sure about with black bumpers.

Find a new friend

Lol, was taught by my dad not to resent a fella who was trying to help with being malicious... Same guy threw me the keys to his lifted King Ranch to run around in while I was swapping springs the other day. Can’t fuss about him too bad I guess [emoji1787]

Thought about that too. The graphics will actually overlap the flare, so I wasn’t sure what it would look like. Would be awesome if o could get a white and Black one and have the colors flip when they hit the flare.

Don’t plan on getting much wider on tires, so sticking with stock-sizes flares. Gotta keep my MPGs! I do, however, salivate over your truck when I see pics.

White, no graphics.

Thanks man. I’ll take a pause before ordering them, no matter what I do.

White flares

Thanks!

Hahahaha, same wash I realized the paint on my ranch hand bumper was much softer than I thought. Got swirls all in it [emoji30]

I’m starting to lean that way...

Thanks man. I’ve got some damage that I’ve seen around the edges. Will likely use a black gasket/seal around them as a breakup/paint protector. Your pics are hugely helpful!

It was called vent restorer... meant to take a pic of the can. Will do bt the store he bought it from and take one.

Whatever you do go with painted ones because that flat black plastic stuff that the original flares are made of will eventually fade out from the sun anyway. With painted flares that will never be an issue. Either color looks great, the graphics not so much. Good luck.

Yea, I was reading around and a few guys suggested using silicon. Completely remove the flare, lay it flat and run a nice meaty bead around the point of contact with the truck and that let it cure. Should be softer and seal better than the junk bushwaker sells with their flares. I might try it on mine since they only cost $40.

Thanks man. Looks like I’m probably gonna wind up going painted, so I’ll get a chance to see what I think before I go with the vinyl.

Hadn’t thought about that. Definitely something to consider. Let me know how it works out, if you do.

So on my flares there's a row of ribs where it presses against the body. Double sided tape won't stick, tried to use some flowable silicon for windshields and it may work, but it's a long process and not necessarily worth the effort. In 2 weeks I had the flares scratch the clear enough I have to paint correct this spring. So, I'm probably sticking to flareless. Maybe down the road if I come across some oem take offs thag are color matched I'd consider it, or if I hit the lottery I'll run a set of the warn 4x flares but for 600$ I'm not feeling it. Especially since I won't be running offset wheels. Flaps are staying as they do a great job keeping 80% of it clean, until i turn the wheel a good bit but that's to be expected. Its especially better under neath down the rockers where I was packing mud in all the crevices before.

Did you decide what you're gonna do yet
