So with hemifever do you need to run a 180 thermostat? Or is the oem one fine to run? Also I do not plan on doing the electric fan. Can you run a 180 thermostat without the electric fan with the tuner to adjust temp? I've read through past post and it's just back and forth people's opinions. I don't plan on modifying much past a tuner just looking for a little more power and mpg.

I did have to change out to a 180 super easy upgrade. I also changed my plugs to a performance set and added a k&n blackhawk. The tune from hemifever will require you to run premium fuel and cycle several tanks of fuel before then tune with be "finalized" I could tell a difference and decided to leave it even after returning my over priced tuner. I enjoyed the way my truck ran afterwards. Really just depends on what type of fuel and where you get it

Did you just change the settings in the tuner for the 180 thermostat? No E fan? Or shutter delete? I am not worried about changing the thermostat definitely have skills to do that. Thanks for your info

I have s&b intake and flow master muffler and might do shorty headers(depends on how much my work bonus is)

You don't need to do a 180 tstat if you get a Hemifever tune. He will ask you a bunch of questions about your truck (mostly build specs and mods) and build the tune accordingly. If you do go to a 180 tstat in the future, he will revise your tune to work with the 180 tstat but it's not required.

On a side note, a custom tune is totally worth it. Completely changes how the truck drives.

Tell him you want a "economy/milege " tune and i'd also tell him you want a 87 octane tune if you're looking to save on your fuel bills. You don't need a high performance 91 or 93 octane tune if you're looking for milege and fuel savings.

You don't Have to do anything, you can run whatever gas you want, just be SURE to tell your tune what gas you want to use, he will build the tune for whatever gas you want. You can run the 180 With the stock fan, I did for 4 years on my 2013 5.7.
The higher the octain fuel the better the performance. No matter what fuel you choose on your tune be sure not to accidentally put a different octane fuel in the tank.

This is a little off subject, but not by much.

I'm trying to load an updated tune into my Diablosport hand held tuner from an iMac. I have the tune in a file, but can't figure out how to transfer it to the the hand held tuner. I did it on my old PC, but this Mac throws me for a loop. Help!

Thanks, RJ

Hopefully your questions are answered. Recently just tuned my Ram and yeah big difference. Shoulda done it sooner. Smoother, definitely quicker, and even mileage improved.

You can keep the 204 thermostat or go down to a 190 or 180. You just tell the tuner what you want. Tuner has more timing options with a cooler thermostat.

I split the middle and went 190 to lower the oil temp some and also didn't want to delete the Shutters. The shutters cannot be reprogrammed.

If you keep the clutch fan then you won't have to worry about reprogramming the electric fan since it's not the primary fan.

I will say getting rid of the clutch fan makes the engine spool up a little quicker and it's quieter at start-up.

Yeah I am still debating on it. I've done it to other vehicles in the past. Super simple but I'm ordering new wheels and tires and a few other things soon lol. Just getting all my homework done before I buy a tuner

OP--Did you call Sean and ask him? If he is doing your tune seems to me that would be a good place to start when asking questions---he's always been really helpful to me every time I've called him.

He's great to talk to and will give you all the information you need. Also you might want to contact Matt at Moe's Performance, a preferred vendor on this site. He also has a lot of information about tuners and some of the information you are looking for.

Just stay in closed loop(<40% throttle)with lower octane gas, the PCM will adjust to stay around stoich from the O2 sensors.

For the few minutes it takes to upload a tune, that huge console should have the entire i3 box in it.

If you have an 8 speed, this pays for itself quick in smiles per gallon.
