Don't know about others, but having cab lights on my trucks has never been an issue when I sold my previous trucks. I never heard anyone say, I would buy that truck if it didn't have cab lights on it. I maybe wrong, but I don't see it as a selling issue.

I will for sure, found the OEM kit on amazon for $97 with the drill template. Just something unnerving about drilling holes in the roof of a 2018 truck!
Do you happen to have a part number for the kit??? Is the kit you got the clear lenses and the amber bulbs?? I like the looks of that!!!

A tip I learned doing antenna installs is to use painters tape on he roof, mark your holes on that - measure, re-measure etc., then use a brush and vacuum up the shavings. Any shavings left on paint may damage the paint.

I've had them on a few older trucks always leaked. Then I found buytl tape stuff will seal and stay flexible.

The kit comes with a template you lay on the roof, center it and drill. Very easy to do.

The entire base of the lights are a rubber seal, the oem lights are 1 piece construction.

Drilling holes in the roof is kinda like getting a tattoo, there's no turning back. Just curious, how does this affect resale value?

Russ
Don’t think it would effect resale much either way, it’s an oem kit with oem parts so not really different than if the factory did it. Some people like them some people don’t.

When you guys are drilling the holes are you putting anything up in the headliner to catch the shavings or just leaving them up there and covering your dashes?

Oh I know its rubber but it's not buytl lol. Most will never leak if you check them every oil change to make sure they don't get loose. I like cab lights myself but mostly on older trucks.

My plan, is to drop the headliner by taking off both A pillars. Then, I’m going to take a large garbage bag, cut it so it’s a long piece, and tape it to the roof behind where I’ll drill the holes and windshield. Above the headliner of course.

That’s what I did, worked perfectly

I always use some type of painters tape when drilling as well. I placed a large towel between the roof and headliner to catch the shavings, plus vacuumed after every hole was drilled. When finished with the holes, used touch up on all holes, and allowed to dry before mounting the lights.

Put some grease on the drill bit. Chips will stick it instead of falling

Man those are bright! You changed all your interior lights to blue?
I sure did, I switched to LED on the interior and white was so bright I needed sun glasses, so tried blue. It’s something a little different for now!
