Nice new Ram. I keep my ram very close to stock. If I was going to add a cold air intake, it would be the variram from May at Moe's, a preferred vendor on the forum.

Should have read Matt at Moe's. All I can say is some folk that have been on this forum for a long time say the varraram works. I would only run one where it doesn't snow. The only reason I don't have one. Not sure it is available for 5th Gen...yet.

After looking at this video I’ll stick with afe. I know it could be installation error on his part but I would die if I found out my engine was sucking in all that gunk.

I’m proud to have my 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie as my first new vehicle, It’s a proud and humbling moment. I picked her up Saturday and I fell in love with it the moment I saw her on the lot.

I’m in the market for running boards, a cover for the back and a cold air intake if they are out yet. Any suggestions would help.

I'll give you some help...Or rather a hint...No such thing as "running BOARDS" (not 1 ounce of wood in them). They're called SIDE STEPS. They're made from aluminum, and even steel I believe. But NO wood

I've always taken my running boards off my new trucks as soon as I got them, but if they were wooden I'd probably leave those side steps right on there.

Everyone calls them running boards, get over it.

Now that I’ve owned her for two weeks I’m fine without the side steps and I like the overall clean look without them. Now I have more money for supporting engine modz [emoji48]

I put the Steelcraft running boards on mine. I really like them so far. They have a good step up, feel solid, have good traction, look good on the truck, were easy to install, and cost less than $300 delivered. Here they are on my truck:

Slightly off topic, but out of curiosity did Ram change the OEM mounts on the Gen 5 trucks compare to the Gen 4's? On the Gen 4's, there are 6 separate mounting points all of which are holes through the rocker panels.

Unfortunately, with the lower mounts through the pinch welds of the rocker panels, simply mounting the boards themselves damages the paint and leaves the seem vulnerable to rust. If you don't run boards (I have removed my factory ones ) then you are left with 6 large holes on the inner underside of the rockers to collect road debris and moisture leading to rust.

This is literally one of my biggest complaints about the 4th gen trucks. Very curious as to wether or not they have changed this with the 5th gens. Beautiful truck BTW.

Wow, they are far from "boards". They're side steps.

Any way you slice it running boards just aren't for me, don't like them on these new trucks. I take them off immediately, put those running boards up for sale. Now I got a 66 Buick that if I could get some nice wood side steps for, I'd consider it.

But hey if you like the look of running boards on these new trucks, by all means, running board away!

I bought a hitch and afe momentum cold air intake and I have an appointment setup for tint on Monday. I’m about to order a Tyger[emoji2400] - T3 Soft Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover to keep the bed clean. For some reason birds love to sh*t in the damn bed. I want to order 2” lift spacers on the front to level the truck but I’ve been reading a lot of mixed reviews with these trucks and it’s back and forth; what are the cons with only putting on a spacer? I was reading if you don’t get the whole kit the spacer alone can cause damage to the the cv joints, tie rods, and upper control arms. How bad is just a leveling spacer for our trucks? And yes I was planning to get an alignment after I installed the spacer.

AFE has the cold air intake for the New Ram.... I installed one the other day. They have 3 models. The one I purchased is the most aggressive one. Stage 2 Pro. I may be taking it off because my wife does not like the increased engine noise from it. I've ordered the one that is totally enclosed and will be better for her ears. I read somewhere where K&N will be making one.

The cover I purchased for the back is from "Undercover". I like it a lot. Looks almost like a trunk lid when closed. Painted the same color as the Ram and installed and comes off real easy.

The running boards I have came with the truck. They are the ones that come down when the door opens and then fold under the vehicle when closed. I sure recommend them. They are great for us senior citizens when exiting and entering the vehicle. My wife has leg issues and it's easier for her to get into the Ram then our Jeep Grand Cherokee.
