The link supplied earlier is not a harness, just a pigtail with approx 12" of leads. The connectors for everything in the roof are part of the headliner harness, You cannot purchase this harness without buying a headliner.

What exactly are you trying to add to your truck?

I know your question was directed at someone else, but I'm looking to add the overhead console with homelink. I have a 2015 express with no overhead console currently. Using the pigtail, would I be able to hook into existing wiring up there to make it all work?

Yes, Technically a power and ground is all that is needed to power the module however the factory uses an additional BUS circuit for security purposes and only allows the module to work when the key fob is present. Safest bet is to wire it up to an ignition powered feed.

Ok so if I do that, will the homelink still be able to be used, even though there won't be a connection to the EVIC?

I saw this and wanted to weigh in. The Homelink/Compass module will work even if the key is off. All you need to do is press the button and it will open whatever you have it programmed to. From our experience the homelink module will not work and the compass won't work unless the correct codes are enabled for the overhead console. One is the CV2 overhead console code and the other is for the compass module but I can't remember what Chrysler's abbreviation for that code is. That is what the third wire is for. The wiring is not present in your truck for the Homlink/compass or the power slider. As Benny stated the wiring is part of the headliner. You should have the correct wiring for the Homelunk/Compass in the connector on your drivers side A pillar. If you found the correct headliner the correct wiring is present and you could install the wiring and enable the codes. My truck came with the overhead but my friends didn't. He actually found a used headliner and we were able to use the harness and get his working when we added the codes. Long story short . In order for the Homelink/Compass module to work you will need to add the correct wiring and codes. The power slider would also need to be wired if you wanted to add it. I have done the power slider in my truck and it's pretty simple. There are no codes needed for the power slider but you need to drop the headliner to run the wiring and obviously install the window. You may want to check with( M2mods). They are vendors on the forum and make harnesses for seat and radio conversions. They may be able to help you with connectors or at least point you in the right direction for the Homelink/Compass. Also of note you would need to make sure the codes were present in your truck for the dealer to enable or you could use the alpha tool try to do it. Unfortunately it's hard to find the wiring for this because in many cases the wrecking yards do not offer the headliners or the wiring. If you do find a used headliner make sure it actually had the overhead console and the harness has not been removed or cut.

Thanks for sharing your experience Ricks Ram, so it looks like my best bet is to find a used headliner that includes all the wiring. Or to get a harness made if I want the homelink to work. It looks like wiring the lights might be easy enough to do myself with the pigtails that Mopar sells. I found the wiring diagram for those that another member posted.

+1 request for a forum member to make the harness.

I just picked up a console from another forum member. Getting 12v to the lights seems easy enough but the compass module is where I am confused.

I have a 2011 Ram 2500 ST that didn't have the overhead console. I've bought one that only has the courtesy lights - no Homelink or rear slider. The console kit came with wiring leads (3 orange and 3 white wires) and 1 connector plug that will connect to the 2 lights. The plug connects 3 wires to the console; however I don't know which of the leads are the hot leads and which is the ground. I thought the far left and far right would be the hot leads while the middle would be the ground. But trying to test the lights by touching the leads to the is getting me different results. One lead test has the lights lighting up brightly when touching the left lead to + and the center lead to - ; however, when I touch the right lead to + and the center wire to the - , the lights are much dimmer. And if one of the lights gets turned off, no light output at all.

Can someone tell me how to accurately wire these 3 wires so that they will light up with the center dome light as well as turning on one individual map light for reading?

My truck came with the RA2 radio so fortunately I already had the overhead console with the compass module, I then installed overhead console with Homelink and it works perfectly because those codes are already enabled in my truck. The harness is actually glued to the headliner and not available separately. We have successfully installed the wiring out of a donor headliner and enabled the codes to get the compass working. In many cases the dealer could not activate the compass and Homelink codes in the trucks originally quipped with the RA1 non console radio. Now that we have the alpha tool I am really hoping someone gives this a try by either finding a donar harness or having M2mods possibly make one.

@AllMoparParts.com / Benny - I'd like to add Homelink to my '21 RAM Classic Tradesman. Already have the overhead console from the factory (no Homelink, no rear slider or sunroof, being a Tradesman).

It's not 100% clear to me whether all I need is just the compass/Homelink module, or if I'll also need a harness. Sounds like maybe not, but wanted to ask before placing an order. I'll carefully cut my current console to open up the hole for the Homelink buttons, so no need for the console panel (unless I screw it up!).

Many thanks!

Hi,
I dont think the module connector will be present and this is part of the headliner harness which is not available separately. You can however provide the Ign. power and Ground to the terminals with some universal terminals or solder them on directly. Attached is the pinout for the module.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
-Benny

Thanks for the Homelink pinout diagram AllMopar,
Do you have the green connector, by the driver's side of the dash, pinout designation? I am trying to find out which pin is the BUS so I can connect the Homelink the way it is from factory. I already enable the compass and the Homelink in the ECM and wire the overhead lights to work correctly but I am trying to figure out which is the BUS in the green connector that goes to the overhead console so I can plug in the Homelink module. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 ST 4x4. Last 6 of the VIN are 176632.

Awesome Benny, thanks.
One more question. Do you happen to know where is the little ambient line in the overhead console need to be connected to? I do not see anywhere to rout it to. Many thanks again!

The plug for that is in the harness that runs up the A-Pillar but that is part of the headliner harness and headliner assembly.

Thanks again Benny. I just found it, I will use that plug for the ignition power to the compass module so I don't have to go behind the dash.
You are the best!
