after having those 4 wheel drive problems with my cad and my vacuum lines i said screw it and bought posi lok 4x4. and i installed it and did everything right. the fork was in excellent shape. put it back in the axle where its supposed to go. only thing i didnt do was hook up the 4 wheel drive light. has anyone used it here? when i tested it i put all 4 tires on ice and all 4 tires spun. thats what my friend said that was checking for me. but i tried it again. and this all is in 4 wheel high. this time only my back tires would spin. i would do exactly what everyone says. pull the shifter in four wheel high. press the button and pull out. could it be the fine adjustment you have to do? helpppp!

I'd reinspect the shift fork area. There are small tips that go on the end of the fork that sometimes fall off. That's one possibility. Did your cable rub on something and get damaged underneath?.
You ll have to crawl under there with the truck secured safely with the right wheel off the ground. Have a friend pull the cable while you rotate the wheel and watch the mechanism.
One of the thiings about a posi lock is the "feel" . Your vacum system holds the actuator over until both axle splines align on the shift collar. With a posi lock you have to be the pressure. You have to drive a short distance slowly untill you can pull the collar over. Some posi owners have written they even feel a slight grinding as the splines rotate against each other until they engage.

My guess is that your expecting the cable to immediatly engage the axle splines. If they aren't perfectly aligned that isn't going to happen. You'll need to apply a steady pull on the cable until they do. You will feel the engagement!

Doing the check simply assures that everything is working, and rotating the tire slowly while the cable is being pulled back will give you an idea how long it will take to work.

The truck has to be moving while applying light pressure on the handle.
