Hello I have a 2018 ram 25oo with cab lights, my question is I bought aftermarket smoked cab lights to replace the clear ones that came with the truck. Is it as easy as just removing the two screws and the light comes off and then wire the new one and put it on.

Yes two screws are all that hold them on. If they have ever been warm they will 100% be baked onto the roof with the rubber bottom but just be careful pulling them up if you need to reuse them.

Not sure which smoked lights you bought, but I read it's best to use the OEM rubber base and just use replace the lenses with the smoked version

They are from a company called partsam lighting and accessories they are a direct replacement for the oem ones. It says just unscrew the oem one and screw the new one down in its place. I just wasn't sure if it was only held down by the screws, because I took the two screws out and it was still stuck fast but now I know why thanks for the info gents greatly appreciated

The OEM are one piece with a molded rubber base. You can’t really remove the lense.

The rubber base and lens come apart on the oem lights, they are two pieces. It’s a pretty snug fit though....
Well remove the lense as in the old style lights, where there was an actual base then the lense. If you “change the lense” on these lights you are really replacing the whole light, why would you keep the rubber seal, just replace everything.

Yeah you may be right on the old ones. The new ones, the assembly is so cheap it’s easier to buy that. I had two cracked lenses, I bought a set of five so I have extras.

Because some of the aftermarket lights base/seal isn’t as good as the oem base/seal and can leak. So members use the smoked lense paired with the oem base.

I replaced the yellow with white LEDs and here is the mounting and light plug. 1/4 turn and it comes out of the housing. I didn't pay any attention if the lens would separate from the housing.

Oh, it's even more blatant than that...from a quick Google search:

It would be nice if @Scott Monroe would actually have some input to the forum instead of just pushing over priced lights. I know I like to buy from guys on this forum but most have very helpful insight and post in many parts of the forum, not just peddling parts.

I had to laugh in that article when they said if you want the lights to stay on at night you should park under neon lights. Sounds a bit like a scam or a joke to me. I’d stay really far away from these.

If he wants to sell his lights here he needs to become a paid vendor

Yes, that housing separates. The clear lens just presses in the lower housing/gasket and the screws go through both to mount it to the roof.

Just a tip to others but if you pull those off don't over torque the screws (but make sure they are snug). There have been cracked lenses from the factory over tightening the screws and causing leaks.

Solar powered lights? No thanks. Anyhow I personally like the yellow clearance lights.

It’s interesting looking at his posts, he pretends to be a consumer reccomending the lights but the article posted says he’s an owner lol. Ya just can’t hide with the internet these days!!!!!
