Hi. I have an issue that popped up a few days ago I am not sure what is going on. I suppose I will take it in to the dealer to solve but thought I would ask here before I do to see if this makes sense to anyone.

I have a 2013 1500 5.7 and the battery died a few days ago. I think it sat dead for several days - it was absolutely zero volts, not a hint of a charge. I replaced the battery with a new one and now two three things are happening. I have about 100 km on it since the battery replacement and the issues started.

1) When I start the truck, all the gear indicator lights in the dash all light up (PRND). Even when I change gears, they all remain lit up. I think it is going into the gear (but haven't tried actually driving like this). Even if I have physically changed the shifter to Drive, it acts like it is in park, and clicks the relay as I press/release the brake, like it does when I am in Park. Nothing I do can get it back to normal, except.... if I turn the truck off and immediately restart it, it works fine. This happens every time I start the truck, morning and night, and 100% of the time it is fixed by restarting.

2) I no longer see the 'eco' indicator on the dash come on, it used to come on all the time as I don't drive with a heavy foot, but now never.

3) The engine indicator light is lit, all the time.

Any ideas, or do I just take it in and pay the dealer?

Thanks,
Ryan

Get a obd scanner and see what code pops up since you have a check engine light on.

Might be something easily fixed. Might not, but you won't know until you scan it for the code it's throwing.

Advance Auto will scan it for free if you don't have an OBD scan tool.

Also, could just be telling you you can go in any direction you want. It's a free country.

I would try undoing the negative battery cable and reset everything. Maybe the slower decline of the battery made some things act weird. Worth a shot and free...

Well, I bought a scanner, and it had 21 codes on it, and then it turned off, and I realized the battery was dead. So that is a brand new fully charged battery dead in less than two days. I suppose buying that battery was a waste of money. Realizing that asking for help for a draining battery is a near impossible task, I guess it goes to the shop!

Thanks for the help everyone.

Sounds like something is shorting, draining the battery. Nothing worse than trying to track electrical gremlins. Hope you find it!

Anyone ever get a resolution on this? I'm having similar issues.
