Have you managed meanwhile to get rid of the air suspension in the AlfaOBD so that you don’t get the message on the evic each time?

Already done that my friend. I messaged GhostRam to add it to the list of options.

Go to BCM > P/T Chassis Net-ASCM Air Suspension Control Module and set it to “Not Enabled”

No more air ride warning.

Thanks to the info in this thread, and to some guidance and reassurance form knowledgeable members, I enabled my turn signals as DRL's, and added it to my menu.

This may seem simple to most, but as I am a well known maroon when it comes to auto electronics / computers, and just having gone for my lungs buying the truck, I admit to being a bit nervous mucking about like that.

Piece of cake...took all of about 20 minutes total.

Used the OBDLink+ & AlfaOBD...

This sure is a great place to learn...

I think this is kind of a gray area. I personally have charged someone to make changes to their truck with AlfaOBD, my obd2 link and my tablet. I don't go around renting it out but I don't think there is anything wrong with making a few bucks on someone else's software that I paid full price for. My time is worth something and most of us have put a lot into figuring this stuff out, some of you way more than me. Some people don't understand how this software works and don't want to mess with it. Same guys that will go to the dealer for flashes. Just my honest opinion

While I can agree that your time is worth something, I mean, that is how I make my living between being a contractor and commercial property manager. I don't think when we purchased the full price for the software it enabled us to profit off of his work by using what we purchased for "ourselves".

It is a single license, not a multi license agreement. If a handful of people purchase his app in each state (assuming we're only speaking about the North American continent) then how would the developer continue to make money for his efforts? For those guys not willing to mess with his software or not fully understanding how it works or not willing to put forth the effort should go to a dealer. So they are going to come back to you every time they need to have a recall performed that requires a dealer to flash their BCM? Those people should be going to a dealer to have work performed on their vehicles. Just my honest opinion

I can see your point but what's the difference between me charging someone and you helping someone for free? We both just cost him a potential sale. But I covered my fuel cost and 30 min of my time. I do have a problem with people trying to pirate his software or leasing it out. Like I said, I'm not going out of my way to try and profit exclusively from his work, but I paid what he wanted for use of the program and I think I should be able to use it for profit if I choose. And fwiw I do promote Alfa to everyone who asks about it.

Hey guys.

I solved my issues with the trailer brake controller (ITBM)

I removed fuse F87 10A when I deleted my air suspension. I was alerted by another forum member that it may control something else. Sure enough. It did. Popped it back in and all is well. Gain is adjustable and controller is working fine.

No you don’t. Trust me. It’s a hunk of crap. The amount of times the thing wouldn’t level properly, or on cold mornings I’d find the thing bottomed out on the left side and it wouldn’t pump back up. Stay away from air suspension.

If you want rear load levelling just add two aftermarket bags inside the springs. Works like a charm on my dad’s Ram

I usually charge $20 because they want me to do something using my gear and knowledge of the tool. I don't see anything wrong with it, usually stuff like adding the option to enable disable drl or change the location and most of them have iPhones so the price do it themselves is more than $20!

Really? Wow. First time I've heard anyone complain about it other than people who want a big lift.

A quick search on google and it’ll unveil 1000’s of people complaining. It doesn’t ride as nice as the bilsteins either.

So I just tried to program a new key per lawsuit11 instructions here..

https://www.ramforum.com/threads/alfaobd.123982/page-225#post-1864604

And I got a "failed. conditions not correct or request sequence error"

Pretty sure I followed the instructions to a T and I entered my PIN (the 4 number one not the 5 with a letter)

Any ideas? Key was new purchase from amazon and confirmed to be working by other members.

The instructions in that folder (my write up) I successfully used when programming new keys on my truck. You definitely need to have the truck in the off position to program new keys

The truck isn't running acc/run is used as the same term. I'll update the write up to say acc position instead of run.

Yeah, key was in ACC, connected to the hub successfully, selected program key, removed working key and inserted blank and left off just like the instructions say, entered PIN and start .

Like I said only difference is my working key was in "acc" to start and you were in "run" other then that instructions are the same.

If "acc" is wrong that info needs to be removed from the first page of this thread because that's were it sends you for info on programming a key.

This.

Have the truck completely off, which seems counterintuitive but it is true.

If you think about it, the RF hub has to be always active (even in "Off") otherwise it would never be able to pick up the signal from a keyfob trying to unlock the vehicle.

So, key in OFF, OBD adapter plugged in then connect to the RF hub via Alfa and do the thing.

I got an error on the first fob I attempted to program, but "conditions not correct or request sequence error" was not it. Rather it just sat on Process Started (or whatever the UI says) and never completed. Switched to the fob I bought from Amazon and it worked OK.

Well... I am a software developer, so let me put this into a bit of perspective for you guys.
I have my own small business developing software, I'm a single father raising my 2 kids by myself for the last 14 years (since my daughter was 1-1/2). I struggle at times to make ends meet, pay the mortgage etc, let alone even think about helping them get thru college/university.

I've had people try to offer my software to others so they could start projects and use my software as a basis for it. All without asking me or even considering that my only source of income is the code I write.

When you buy software you buy the right to use it for your own personal use. When you use it to help others (and there's nothing wrong with helping others), especially if you charge for that service and you don't bother to pay the guy that made it possible, then you are stealing from that developer, no matter how much that software cost.

Just because you "buy" a piece of software cheap or otherwise, doesn't give you the right to use it in any manner you see fit.

When you make money helping others, you by rights should be purchasing another copy of that software. Even if you feel "well they just need a little bit out of the software and not the whole thing like I do", as a developer I understand that and perhaps I'm OK with that and perhaps not. At a minimum I would expect to pay a couple of bucks to the developer each time I made a "few bucks" helping out a friend, and I would expect to be paid in full when you help out everyone else.

When I got my 2015 Ram and I started down this DIY path, I bought not only the service + wiring guide for it from Tech Authority, but I also bought the same for the 2014 donor truck that I'm getting the bulk of my stuff off of. I bought an android tablet, and a copy of AlfaODB to do the DIY. I plan on leaving that tablet and AlfaODB with my father whose 4000Km's away who's doing most of the work on the truck (he being an auto mechanic) and I'll be buying another copy for my use when I finally get my "new to me" truck back home. I could just have easily have used a single email account for the Play Store and installed the software twice and saved myself a few bucks... but I know what it feels like to have your work stolen and I won't do that myself.

I'm sure you'd feel otherwise if just because you bought his software, he figured he could drop by your place, use your garage and tools... just for a week or so (It's not like it'd be for a whole year or anything) so he could fix his truck, oh and a few friends trucks... and a few family members too... and a couple of guys trucks he met down at the local bar.

I just tried it again start with the key in run instead of acc, same result. And yes the new key is in the off position when I start the procedure. Maybe I got a bad key or something?

I think I might know what’s wrong. I’m curious if ANYBODY has been able to program a regular (non push button start) fob after Feb 10. That was the latest update and he tried adding the perform secret key procedure to the baseline system so tdhachmann could program a new fob and remote start hub on a 2016. This is the same error he gets.
