Mine had that same high pitched squeal until we took off the plastic engine cover on the left side of the top of the motor is the purge valve try cupping your hand and putting it over the purge valve and see if it muffles the squeal . One we replaced that purge valve it stopped but I think I still have a pully Bearing slightly squeling on the water pump on and off or whose knows at this point after everything the dealer already replaced.

Sounds like your purge valve is stuck open.

Have you ever pressure sprayed your engine to clean it. Wondering if I didint get some water in somthing that the dealer has not been able to locate?

I have not. I’ve only heard it once since the belt change but I don’t pay attention to it all the time.

Where is that purge valve located exactly? What does it took like?

I had a bad squeal on my 1500 that took forever to fix, replaced the power steering pump (dealerships FIX**) tensioner and belt. It would fix it for a day or afternoon and then come back to haunt me. I found a nice youtube video explaining squealing issues. I sprayed water on the inside of one of the running pullys first, and the squealing went away. Which the video said if that happens its a belt issue not a bearing. So what was happening is one of my pulls had over time miss aligned just enough for the OEM belt to rub and squeal hard. I fixed it with a "continental gator belt". Its meant for these situations. The second I slapped that thing on I haven't heard a noise since. Hope this helps, it saved my day for sure

^^^It was a "Goodyear Gatorback" belt but they were bought by Continental and were called the "Continental Elite". Unfortunately Continental is phasing those out in favor of the Continental OE (I think that is what they call them) which has an OEM design and I am not sure they would be any better than the stock belt for belt squeal. You can still find the Continental Elite belts right now if you look.

^^^ Yea I knew GoodYear had them before. The Gater belts had a different groove design then the OEM and it was a lot beefier as well. If it works it works. Got mine off of Amazon for like $40. Dealership couldn't figure it out and was running out of things to replace without getting into serious money.

Dealer told me today they took off the tensioner pully and said the bushing inside of it has play and that they were also ordering another water pump as well. So I will update once parts are replaced and see what it does.

Any updates?

My dealer just called and said they’re replacing the alternator. I highly doubt it’s the alternator. We’ll see.

I agree with you about the alternator not being the issue being they changed mine and it didint stop the squel.

I finally got my truck back after 7 days at the dealer and after they fixed the squeal they kept it some extra days to test drive it several times before returning it to me to make absolutely sure this time they figured it out.

The final conclusion after all the other parts they tried it was the WATER PUMP i have been driving it all morning and no more squeal. Keeping my fingers crossed.

They called me yesterday morning saying the truck was ready for pick up. When I picked her up, the paperwork said "Alternator bearing failed, alternator replaced". Drove the truck down the road and it started squeaking again. Took her in this morning and was squealing pretty loud, could be heard while we were inside the office. They said "ok, we'll call you". I told them that I'd like to wait for the shop foreman to take a look before I leave. Shop foreman heard it and took the truck in the back.

A few hours later, i get a text from the shop foreman saying "I was able to pinpoint the squeal to the waterpump. We're ordering the part and the truck should be ready tomorrow".

Sweet, glad to hear it. Seems like mopar got bad batches of water pumps. Hopefully the post interaction will help others pinpoint it as well.

Hey everyone, I need the support of other Hemi 6.4 owners. My truck developed a nasty squeal at startup around 1100 miles. A lot of owners have a similar issue and a lot of owners are told that it is "typical" of the motor and they need to deal with it. Well I'm not content with that answer. I've filed a complaint with FCA and I will be bringing my truck back to the dealer to continue to try and get this resolved. It is my belief that I paid for a truck that did not make this noise and I will not accept being forced to own a truck that does while under warranty. I have started a FB Group for Owners of 6.4 Hemis that make these noises in an attempt to get FCA's attention. I hope that is we get enough members in one place, showing enough issues with the engine that FCA will come up with a solution.

You have a good day.
If you started a facebook group for water pump issues, start hitting up all the car pages you can find,as it's a pretty common issue with the 5.7 and 6.4 cars. You should get a bunch of support from them,if you inform them about your group. You're gonna have to do alot of legwork though,as there's a pile of car facebook pages to hit. They aren't going to find you, you're going to have to find them.
