So, mounting those lights on the A pillars, don’t you get a lot of glare off the hood?

Wonder if it depends on what the light is. Work, spot , ect...?

Man I like those better than the ones that you have to mount to the hood.

The a-pillar lights are a pretty focused spot for looking way down the road. There is a small bit of glare but nothing I would classify as distracting. Put them to good use driving through the Yukon Territory in February and was very pleased with the set up. My FJ Cruiser has a 40” combo flood/spot light bar on the roof and it would become useless in any kind of inclement weather. Having different lights on different circuits has been a huge improvement. Plus, a light bar on the roof of the Wagon would look silly with the cab lights.

Fog light bracket is from Baja Designs. Super simple install.

Yo brother, love the build. I'm just about to perform the BD fog light install on my 2018, doing it the same way you did with 1 set to factory and 1 set to the Spod. When you swapped out the factory fogs did it throw a code or was it plug and play?

The Pitbull PBX A/T is 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake rated, 3 ply carcass, and Load Range E.

https://pitbulltires.com/products/pit-bull-pbx-a-t-hardcore-lt-radial

I haven't run them, haven't even seen one, and availability outside of a delivery company to get them here is limited to nonexistent. Due to having mud during Spring season I prefer to run a tire with more open void between the tread blocks and larger lugs than this type of design.

Man - Those are EXPENSIVE!!!

For now I’m running some anti flicker modules from headlight revolution...working great. Future plans are to enter the alfaobd world. Hearing goods things on a couple different forums.

Awesome build. I will be following this one. First time I have seen those A-pillar mounts. I like them a lot. I just bought the Alpha obd hardware and am looking forward to making some changes. Lots of great write-ups on here as well as videos on YouTube.

Thanks! My hope over the short run is to maybe run two sets of tires and keep the DuraTracs for winter. That is unless someone has a good recommendation for a “do it all” tire...
I use Milestar Mud Terrian and kr does really good in the snow and ice (didn't need 4wd) and amazing in the snow. I got 5 40s for under $1500.
Not bashing but who in the right mind willingly moves full Alaska!?!? Lol

Depending on where you live in the state, we get -40 temps in winter, the roads can be icy six months out of the year, cost of living is crazy high, the landscape is crawling with animals bigger than you that will gladly stomp you to death or eat your face, every body of liquid water is cold enough to kill you, if we go to war with Russia they’re definitely attacking here first, and earth quakes will occasionally try to destroy your house. Why anyone wouldn’t want to live here is beyond me, but if it’s not for you please stay away. The place is already too crowded.

I hate the cold but we do get -20s here. Doesn't the government pay you to live there?

Thanks, would love more detail on the flicker module and maybe some pics of the install.

For the time being I think ill avoid the alfaobd until I do blinkers/headlights, tires, etc... since the 2018's require a jumper harness to work. Ill run resisters for the fogs in the mean time. Any details/pics would be extremely useful.

I installed HID Headlights from HR. They sent me an extra harness with capacitors and resisters to 'fix' the fact that the Canbus sends PWM signals for the stock projector headlights. With AlfaOBD/OBDlink MX+ I set the headlights variable to "HID" in the "Vehicle Configuration 3" section of the BCM and that allows the HIDs to work fine without needing the extra harness. Saves you $80 for the harness. Check the AlfaOBD thread for specific details (it's over 500 pages, so use the search feature).

This is the best pic I can do right now of the fog light mount.

Here is the link to the mount itself.

There are three bolts that hold the factory fog light in place. The Baja Design uses the same three bolts. Mount the lights to the fog light bracket then mount the assembly to the bumper. The kit comes with a pigtail adapter to wire both lights in each fog light pocket to the factory switch. I wired only one pair of lights to the factory switch and the other pair to a separate switch. The anti flicker module connected and zip tied in place (I love zip ties).

Here is a link to the anti flicker module.

Everything was plug and play and I have had no issues. I'm kind of a slow worker when wrenching on my vehicles, this project took me about an hour.

Thanks! this is perfect. Just ordered the same flicker modules. Did you cap or cut the second BD fog connector? I'm Excited to get the BD fogs installed. I have a 20" S8 light bar I removed from my 4runner that im installing behind the grill under the RAM. That paired with the fogs should give me damn good coverage.

Let’s talk MPG! First, speedo has been corrected via Alphaobd and speed verified via GPS on a flat section of road. What I have not verified is the odo. I’m hoping that with the speedo correct the odo will be as well. Second, gearing is stock and tire pressure set at 40psi in the front and 38psi in the rear.

first picture was on a flat straight road with cruise control set.

Next photo is the same road pulling and old M101a2 trailer I’ve been very slowly working on over the years. With all of our camping gear it weighs about 2k rolling on 35” tires.

Round trip to our campsite was 500 miles, averaging about 14.5mpg hand calculated. Speed was between 60-65mph over rolling hills and varying grades (Alaska).

I don’t know how useful any of this is, but when I was considering upgrading tires I became obsessed with what might happen to my fuel mileage.

One more thing. Last summer here in Alaska the best tank of gas I had was 15mpg running empty between 60-70mph.
