I have a procomp 6” kit

Currently running the typical lift kit front strut spacer on top of Bilstein 5100s set at .7”

I’ve been thinking of raising them to 2.1 or possibly 2.8

That should give me about 8” lift in the front. Is there a decent setup that would replace the strut & spacer combonwoth a full length coil-over and net me the 8” front lift?

Not looking to spend $3k on front coil-overs for this truck but around $1k would seem reasonable. Do I have any good options?

I’m spending 1900$ installed for my fox coil overs. Some of the other brands of coil overs available go for around 800-1300$. Other than that bit of info I’m not much help @rwhjr

You have to decide if you need custom made rear shocks for the offloading you do.

Fair enough! And just to double check, only coilovers are adjustable height wise correct? Or can these mono tube 2.0 shocks be height adjustable in order to achieve perfect leveling?

Coilovers are height adjustable and you'll have them in the front in our case. Think about them as a shock and a coil spring in one single unit, for the back you have shocks and coil springs as 2 separate entities. in either case, the coil spring is what provides the height and the shock dampens the ride.

Icons 2.5 CO's should be aound $1300, but you get no RES with Icons nor CDC. That's why Icons will cost less in this instance compared to the competition. everybody else gives you RES, and as an option you get to choose whether you add the compression adjusters or not for an extra fee.

I've had CO's with and without RES and with and without compressions adjusters. This time i went with Kings and i wanted the reservoirs but not the adjusters. why ? i ended up playing for an entire week with the adjusters the very 1st time ever after getting shocks with them, then i forgot the adjusters existed and never touched them again like ever, crap maybe couple of times just to show others how to adjust them :) . For the price i'll rather have the reservoirs all day long, and i'll have reservoirs all day long vs not having them. You tend to have longer services with the RES, but that also depends of how aggresive you're are with your shocks. Icons will run circles around 5100's without any doubts and they'll be able to hold some very good abuse as well

You'll have to do measurements to order a custom lenght. get in touch with Icon to see what you need to do to accomplish that, i'd imagine they'll add 3-4" more to what they already have for the 0-2.5" COs and adjust the bumpstop locations.

Not to go in the wrong direction. I currently run the bilstein 5100 and notice at times the ride seems to be stiff. I was thinking of swapping coil overs and rear shocks.i like to go off-roading here and there. Sometimes I will load up the bed with a couple hundred pounds every once in a while or pull a small trailer. I plan on purchasing a 7000lb travel trailer in the future. What shocks and CO combination will suit my needs better? Not really sure. I’ve been researching and think I’ve confused myself

I don’t think you’ll find King 2.5’s are much more expensive than the icons. If I remember correctly I paid 2800 for front and rear 2.5’s with res (no CDC) and that included the custom height fabrication.

To be perfectly honest if you’re trying to figure out whether you really need Resevoirs or CDC, you probably don’t. If you were doing the kind of driving that would require those things, you’d know it. Most people (myself included) get these options so that we have the capability if it’s so needed, even if that’s only 1 time out of a hundred.

If you’re ok without the reservoirs the Icon front coil overs in a custom length to get you 8” of lift would be a great option.

I got a very good deal on the Kings 2.5 front/rear for 2.2 plus shipping last Black Friday. Not only they look sexy under the truck you get the performance to do any type of heavy duty offroad driving with them. But any 2.5 kit will have similar performance though not all are created equal. This is where I believe King is King.

@JB1 would you happen to have any insight on the HD rams vs the 1500 and whether this listed shock above would work? Thanks!

They should fit as those shocks are for 09-17 RAM 2500's. Before the Kings i was running the Rancho RS999269 which are shocks for 09-17 RAM 2500, fitted like a glove in the back of my RAM as they have the same shock upper/lower mounts as our 4th Gen RAM's, and they had the lenght i wanted for my Icon 1.5" rear coils.

Oh sweet! Glad to hear that they are the same. The extended and compressed measurements for these HD ram shocks are within 1” of being the same as those 2.0 shocks for the 1500.

@ram1500rsm did you have any issues in the rear with the Hd shocks? I was wondering if HD made shocks could be too stiff for a 1500.

Guess I might as well order them and if they don’t fit, return them.
