Ok so I swapped my 22" SI/SO Magnaflow for the the same muffler but in SI/DO config since I wanted to try the dual tails I had found. While taking the old muffler out I noticed that it weighted a lot more than the new one I got but didn't think much of it at time, but a few days later there was giant pool of water right next to the old muffler.

The muffler is positioned almost vertically and I realize now that the way it's installed the bottom of the muffler is just filling with water that will freeze. Would it be OK to drill a 1/8 weep hole at the lowest point at the back of the muffler? I was also wondering why the new one was so quiet compared to the old one, I guess a chunk of ice in a muffler will do that lol

I would drill the weep hole. Eventually that water will rust your muffler from the inside out if it sits in there.

Do you think 1/8 is a good size? I don't wan't to create a leak sound and also I wouldn't want the sound absorbing material to exit.

1/8 should be good or you could go a little smaller and just check it occasionally. If it seems to small or like it's getting plugged up with debris you can enlarge the hole to 1/8. I wouldnt go bigger than that.

One on my DynoMax Ultraflow’s had a 1/8” drain hole at the back
Never really noticed it until I consistently saw a black-smudge mark on the concrete under the muffler where I parked every night
Definitely worked in the winter, still have that truck with the same muffler, 5yrs+
