Still having some startup issues... now that the snow is gone and getting warmer here in Canada I can actually start troubleshooting.

Saw a YouTube vid, someone had the same issue (truck starts, runs 2 seconds, dies. No sputtering, coughing, smoke. Runs fine for 2 seconds then dies) and in his case it was a bad battery connection.

Popped the hood and had a look and connection looks ok, though no idea how good the wiring is inside the plastic sleeve. However, there is a wire, about 10" long, a bit coiled with a spade connector on the end, just there... can't see where it should go, no idea what it's for... maybe the issue?

Anyone know where the mystery wire goes?

Not an oem wire. The previous owner wired something...if the other end is missing, I would just disconnect it.

Ya I wonder if half my issues aren't from the previous owner's messin' around.

It has a car starter, or was told it has... receiver in the window for it, but the remote battery dead and honestly never had a use for starting my car remotely anyways. Wonder if related to that. And maybe messed up the power/battery cable splicing it in.

I also have a similar yellow one just "there"... passenger side, the big harness running along near the wipers.

If the original owner cut into harnesses and left wires dangling, I would start there: clean it up by removing the stray wires and make sure there are no shorts where he spliced into the harness(es).

If you continue to have a problem with after that, then check for excessive draw at each fuse.

Well, doesn't look like spliced in, it and I think another wire (covered in a black sleeve) go direct to the firewall and in through a hole. Maybe the 3rd party remote starter? Not sure where it was going to though under the hood. Seems zip-tied tightly to the harness but not spliced into it.

Week or two before weather warms up and ground dries up, and then I gotta check the brake switch (3rd brake light works, left/right quit) so when down there I'll see if can spot that rogue wire.
