I bought a mostly 1-owner 1991 Cummins-powered D250. It is a high-mileage vehicle owned and kept in northern California and Reno NV. It is in great shape for its age, and most of what I am having to update involves worn-out switches and deteriorated plastic and rubber bushings, fittings, and seals.

I am going to seal my triangular vent windows permanently closed, but I would like to have new seals for the effort. I can't find anyone offering seal sets for the 87-93 1st Gen trucks.

Does anyone know where I can get door vent window seals for my 91 D250?

Thanks,

Miranda

not sure anyone makes the seals for that year of d150. if you're going for a permanent seal, maybe just keeps the seals you have an go with a bunch of silicone sealant. I personally like the little vent windows.

only other way would be get some vent windows from a pre 83 D100 and swap the entire assembly. there are plenty of aftermarket seals for those trucks. 72 -93 vent windows will all interchange.

That is what I pretty much resigned myself to doing if there weren't other replacements available. Since I will be relying on my A/C during most of the year I plan to just seal the vent windows shut with some black sealant that matches the color of the existing seals.

I remember growing up with the triangular vent windows. I never minded them, and sometimes they were a handy way to get some high-velocity outside air into the car, but usually they were just leaky and noisy.

Thanks for the info on vent window assembly interchangeability through the years. That was very helpful to know.

One final question: Do you know what the differences are between the 72-86 seals and those redesigned for 91-93? Do you think the 1972-86 replacement seals would be adaptable as long as all I am doing is sealing the windows closed? I may end up removing the vent window locks entirely in order to get a complete silicone seal. If, for example, the later locking mechanism is the reason for the later changes to the design, then removing the locks and bedding the rubber seals and the vent window in silicone to make the installation permanent wouldn't be a problem. The issue for me is just that I don't know whether the vent window changes after 1986 involved different window dimensions, altered lock configuration, or something else.

Thanks again for your input. It has already helped me get a better perspective on the problem and my available options.

as far as I can tell, the change in the windows are locking mechanisms. the earlier years the locking lever was in the front of the window. there was a metal plate it locked against and the rubber seal had a cut out for it. then the lever moved to the rear of the window. The A pillar pivot design also changed but not sure if that had a major impact on the seal design. Not sure how compatible the earlier seals would be without leaving a 1 inch gap in front on the interior side where the lock plate would have been located.

Thanks again for the excellent input. Once I finish the modification I will post a pic or two.
