I have a 2006 Ram 2500HD with a 5.7 Hemi. Periodically while I'm driving down the road the truck losses power and begins to sputter as if it's out of gas. I let off on the accelerator and "play around" with it and it goes away after a few moments (15 seconds or so). The truck is always warm when it happens but I can be on the highway or around town, it doesn't matter.

Any ideas?
Thanks!
Russ

Does it throw a code ?

The list of simple things it could be are immense.

I'll take a stab and say....failing Map sensor or spark plugs.

Failing fuel pump? Always start with basics- fuel, spark, and air ;) check spark plugs, fuel pressure, and not very likely but clogged air filter or restriction.

Mine was the crank sensor, was sputtering bad and going back normal. Changed the sensor no more issue. Do you have any code btw?

I was in the middle of a tuning session when the crank sensor started acting up. I knew it was a tuning problem and it never crossed my mind that it was anything else. It took a while to sort out. I had a big cam and it barely ran without a tune. Ended up removing modifications layer by layer until it became evident the problem couldn't be related to them and had to be a sensor.
