I have some wiring issues with my 98 1/2 ton 5.2.
First the dash light shut down, then the running lights stopped working and now the brake lights cut out.

I dont know what I did to get the running lights back up so that isnt an issue, maybe i should replace the headlight switch?

I bought a new brake light switch and it caused the brake lights to work in reverse. Pedal in, lights off, pedal out lights on.

I've checked the filaments on the bulbs, they're all working. I rigged a ground from the switch to the frame and that didn't help.

On the switch connector, I only have power to the b+ line, should there be more?

Any other ideas I can try?

Any help is appreciated

I had this issue with my wrecker when I first bought it, I too used an aftermarket switch. I ended up buy an OEM one from a parts yard for $7-8 delivered to me with the wiring pigtail.

For now, you can switch the wires to make the switch work correctly. Just be careful which wires you move around. The first time I did it incorrectly and melted a bunch of wires, also disabling the brake lights.

Seems as if for your issues you may have a wire that has rubbed bare somewhere, and the aftermarket switch may be the cause of the incorrect brake light triggered.
