Just wondering what the initial towing reports are? How does the 8 speed compare to the old 6 speed?

Me too . The only reason I would ever upgrade would be because of the poorly geared 6 speed I have

I test drove one at an event that had here. They had a trainer behind it (I forget the weight) and I must say MAJOR difference. I am just waiting until 2020 for the redesigned cab do I can get that panoramic sunroof

My guess would be 2022 at the earliest for any big changes regarding a new cab and powertrain options.

I was reading an article and they made a educated guess. They listed everything FCA is doing in preperation for the new body style

Just made my first trip with my camper, a 2014 Coachmen Freedom Express LE 310 BHDS, weighs around 8500 #, across a steep mountain on a 2-lane county road. The grade near the top is 11% and there are 2 big hairpin curves near the top that kill your momentum. The park is not far from my home, about 25 miles, but this mountain climb and descent makes it the toughest tow I will likely make. The 6.4 with the 8 speed is AWESOME! Pulled out of those hairpins at 11% in 1st, shifted into 2nd still in powerband, and actually accelerated and shifted to 3rd before I had to back off the gas to keep from starting downhill too fast. Used gear limit to 2nd on the downhill and used a little truck & trailer braking to hold about 25mph downhill (there is another 180 degree switchback right at the bottom on the way down). Bottom line: this is a fantastic combo for towing! Max transmission temp on the way up was 175 degrees. Did not check fuel economy because I didn't care what it was. My previous TV was a 2010 F-150 5.4, so I cannot compare with the Ram 6.4/6-speed. I was a little leery of the 2018's that were available at really good deals because I knew I would be pulling this mountain 3-4 times a year. Hope this info helps someone.

Hey guys we just bought a 19 2500 w/ the 6.4. We haul a three horse w/ living quarters right at 17,000. It is doing just fine no complaints as of yet of course we have only pulled it about 400 miles so far. Down the highway it is smooth and at 80 miles an hour I like it, now the mileage goes down a lot at those speeds but compared to the Cummins we it’s bout couple miles off. At times I got 10 out of it but at 80 we got 8 mpg. Over all though I am happy with it got a lot more rodeos to hit this summer so we will see

Following. I REALLY want to drive a 2500 Big Horn Mega Cab 6.4 8-speed with 4.10 gears! Waiting for something to show up on a lot locally...
