So I’m considering replacing the BakFlip folding cover that I bought for my wife’s Ram several years back. Mostly it’s been a pretty good cover, however it’s not without it’s quirks or issues. Over the years it seems to leak more, the prop rod’s used to hold the cover up when it’s flipped fully open never seem to stay in their clips and one of the panels seems to have delaminates from it’s core.
That said, our needs have changed too since we first got the truck and the bed cover. We need a tonneau cover that can integrate with a rack system of some sort to accommodate so my wife can transport her kayak or possibly even a roof top tent if we ever decide to get one. Looking around at what’s on the market, there really aren’t a lot of solutions where hard covers are concerned. Bak has their flip with a contractor rack, however that type of set up didn’t appeal to either my wife or myself.
Enter the Retrax Pro XR. The cover hit the mark where versatility is concerned with either being able to attach regular load bars from Rhino Rack, Thule or Yakima. The bonus in our books was it’s compatibility with Yakima’s Outpost and Overhaul rack systems. As we do more research on the Retrax Pro XR we were hoping to feedback from people who actually own this tonneau cover system and can speak to the good, the bad and the ugly with it.
Thanks in advance,
Kevin
