I'm a 2017 Durango Citadel 5.7L AWD owner and wanted to post for others my experience with AlfaOBD and the tow package. This is the most comprehensive forum on the web for this tool and our Mopar toys! So I wanted to give back.

Just got my toy as a certified pre-owned off-lease purchase. It came with a MOPAR OEM Receiver hitch and wiring installed. I didn't expect it because Window sticker didn't have the tow package listed. I purchased and got it home to find out no outputs through the trailer wiring.

I researched the issue and realized this was probably the Sales code wasn't enabled in the BCM. That's when I found this thread.

Purchased OBDLink MX and AlfaOBD.

I found out the following needed to be set to enable the lights (at least for my vehicle).

In BCM menu Select Car Configuration Change and enable the following:

Options -
  • CBC Features - Trailer Tow Present - Yes
  • CBC I/O - Trailer Tail Lamp Relay Ctrl Output Present - Yes
  • CBC I/O - Trailer Turn/Stop Relay Ctrl LT Output Present- Yes
  • CBC I/O - Trailer Turn/Stop Relay Ctrl RT Output Present- Yes
  • CBC I/O - Trailer Backup Lamps Output Present- Yes
I did these one at a time and verified after #1 and 2 nothing still worked. But after #3 I had Left Turn and brake lights but not Right. So you could safely do all 5 steps. Also used AlfaOBD to activate lights from rear of the truck to verify.

Hope this helps others.
Thanks! Just installed the reciever and associated wiring on my wife's 2016. Was going to ask the gurus on here for help.

Yes if you have factory heated seats the vented seats will work plug and play if as long as you have the 8.4 radio and you enable the correct codes. They will work exactly as factory and the options will also be present in your screen. These are the codes to set. The first two are to activate the vented seats. The last one is the CSM setting. It will have the heated/vented auto on comfort menu on the screen select the 2-3 option.b472185be9276059a15a7dc33c48eca0.jpg01b4a480f399605e55a926121f8a9d6a.jpg6c909f426bcecdb22776d43f65efa6db.jpg

What do i select on the last menu? Feature 1-2 option or Feature 2- 3 option? Also will the memory settings work for the seat and will the passenger seat now be a power seat, if both of those do work do i need to turn anything else on?

Thank you for the help

As stated select the 2-3 option. You passenger side power seat is already pre wired. There are no codes needed to make the power adjust work. Some trucks that have factory heated seats are pre wired for the memory seats and some aren't. If your truck is pre wired you will be able to make the memory functions work by enabling the memory codes. I reccomend going to the first page of this thread and reading all of the information and reviewing all of the known working codes. There are directions for the correct codes to enable for the memory seats/mirrors. If you want the memory mirror function to work you will need to purchase memory capable mirrors. If you posts picture of the wiring going into your trucks driver's side yellow seat plug I will be able to tell you if you have the wiring for the memory seats.

Your truck does not appear to be be wired for the memory seats. You would have pin# 5 white with light blue stripe pin#6 Solid white pin#2 violet with yellow stripe and pin#13 violet with brown stripe. My truck had non of the heated/vented or memory wiring and added it all. There is a thread on this in the 4th gen DIY section
(Adding heated/vented seats and heated wheel to Tradesman/Express) that I posted. I reccomend you ask questions there. Once you get your seats installed you can add the memory wiring later and enable the codes if you chose. It's not difficult to do.

Quick question for anyone who has already done this. Getting ready to install 245/70-19.5 wheels and tires on my 2016 3500 4x4 dually. Does the tire change size link in the first post on page 1 work for a 3500 dually?
Yes it will work, refer to post 1 in this thread, click on known working list. There are step by step directions.

Under Body Computer MY2013-17 PowerNet, I see a possibility under Veh Config 7-TPMS Configuration, then in the pull down one of the options is Logic 2 NAFTA disable warning.
Another possibility is VehConfig 3-BaseTPM system Present or VehConfi 3-Premium TPM present and then under select value Yes or No for either. Not sure which will work, like I said I didn't try it on our Ram.

Can anyone with a ram try to see if the 2013-2017 powernet connects? I have a $22 obd reader that was recommended but wondering if I need the $80 one. Thanks.

Hopefully this helps those with LEDs and EVIC bulb light out warnings/hyperflash.
When I installed my LEDs, I had trouble getting the bulb out warnings to clear, but finally somehow got them to go away.
Fast forward to today.
Today I had the dealer flash my truck with the new Ecodiesel emissions update. It cleared most of my alfa settings and gave me turn signal EVIC bulb out messages and hyperflash.
I got home and set all of the lights to LED and still had the hyperflash and bulb out messages after updating the LED light settings in Alfa and verifying that the settings took. I also disabled all of the light out DTCs that I could and I still had the evic messages and hyperflash. Finally, I went to the Alfa faults page and noticed the bulb out faults were still there. I cleared the faults, which cleared the bulb out messages and the hyperflash. I had assumed setting the lights to LED and disabling the DTCs for the lights would clear the messages, but it did not. I was able to turn the DTCs for the lights back on after clearing the faults, and no more hyperflash or EVIC bulb out messages.
So, if you get a bulb out message for LEDs, make sure you clear the faults!

I successfully added the ITBM to my 2017 1500 using AlfaOBD. When I sourced my module, I found out that Ram had changed them through the model years. If you haven't already make sure you have the correct module. There are three different modules that only work for their respective years: 2013-2014, 2015, 2016+. Just trying to help by ruling out any hardware issues.
I put the 2016-2017 ITBM in my 2015 and it works great! https://www.ramforum.com/threads/oem-brake-controller-compatibility.139718/

On mine, I find when you swap in opposite of what was in there, just let it hyper flash for a bit, less than a minute, and it makes the change on its own.

Is there a setting in there anywhere to enable the clearance lights with the DRLs? I would like to have my clearance lights on during the daytime

I replaced DOM light with led. Open door more than 3x and light shuts off.
Is there a spot in app to switch it to led?
Thanks
