Anyone else tried running ethanol free gas? I have and am finding I am getting about 3 mpg better mileage on all forms of driving, and maybe a little better when towing my off-shore boat. Not only that the whole engine drivetrain just seems smoother running this fuel. Yes, I pay more for the ethanol free fuel and no the difference in the mileage does not make up for the price difference. But overall the better running truck is worth it. Mean while we get soaked by the fuel providers making so many have to use ethanol combined fuel. And even worse the whole E15 and E85 are just bad for your vehicles. So anyone else really tried ethanol fuel and if so what do you think about it? cheers

that's what I do. And I don't get the plugging "gummy bears" in my system that ethanol gas can cause. It's more expensive, but it's definitely worth it in the long run.
Framkly, if i have to pay an extra few dollars per fillup and it saves me from having to pick up a wrench ONE SINGLE TIME then it's worth it.

Here in PA gas is 3.09/gallon. I live pretty close to the Ohio line and over there I paid 2.69/gallon. After I finished pumping I noticed they had a pump that said ethanol free that was 3.39/gallon. Only .30/gallon more than I normally pay but .70 more than their regular 87 over there.

That's about the price difference for it up here as well, and there's only a handful of places that offer it in the county. I run it in my 66 Buick because it runs a lot better on it, and also sits for longer periods of time over winter. I just traded my 13 ram for a 17, and had been running 93 octane on my previous 2 rams that had performance tunes in them. With this 17 I'm going to sell the tuner, and enjoy cheap gas for a while.

I don't believe new jersey allows the sale of etoh free gas. At least none that I have found.

We don't have many pure gas stations here. I did find one in Gunnison, Co. near a large lake. I say that because many boaters still run pure gas so must be the reason the station is there. I gained 3mpg with the pure gas. One of the biggest rip offs our government ever laid on us was ethanol. All because of the farm lobby in congress. And not only has the price of corn related food gone up but also other crop prices because so much farm land was taken out of production and replaced with corn.

I'm not entirely against farm subsidies - that's food so best to keep them tilling, but ethanol was a horrible idea. that same money GW put into corn squeezins could have gone into oil exploration and (more importantly) more refineries so we can create more gas at a cheaper rate.

Have a fuel sender check engine light?

Corn gas is the reason, promotes water and corrosion. Just my opinion though, it’s your money.

Blue Mesa reservoir is a beautiful place. I have missed the mountains country side! :)

yep. we have valvetech ethanol free gas on the river near our marina. it was $5/gallon last year. i use regular 87 octane and add a bottle of Star-Tron to every tank. i do think this year i might fill it with the ethanol free at the end of the season before putting it away.

Here in Houston (Harris County) and the surrounding counties, the epa requires an oxygenate. E10 is $2.40ish. Methanol (wood alcohol) is an allowable oxygenate. However, it is in the $3.30 range. Methanol is more stable than ethanol but it doesn't return the mpg of E0. E0 is available from Louisiana. It has to be trucked in and is expensive.

They truck ethanol/methanol everywhere and excuse me but those diesels are not burning clean oxygenated fuels and neither are the tractors that cultivate the fields that could produce food for people or livestock to eat. I personally love global warming as my heating bills have shrunk and the winters at 7000' in Az. are much improved. The alternative to warming is cooling and warming is a fun filled picnic compared to an ice age. We have been swindled by big money lobbyists on this and so much more making congressman and senators multi millionaires. Term limits is the only answer I can see and we should demand short stays in DC. Natural gas is so cheap some oil fields are paying to have it removed and its the cleanest fossil fuel there is but with no refining its hard to inflate cost to increase profit so better to pay lobbyists to stop it. We are nuts.

I tried to try it here in az... But the nozzle wouldn’t fit... I almost spat on it... but let’s be honest... that wasn’t gonna help either.
