Hey Guys,

Im looking to get my wife a new SUV. We have a few children so three rows is a must.

She is currently in a GMC Acadia. I want to put her in a MOPAR product. I think the durango is a great fit for her. I would like an AWD R/T with the captain 2nd row.

Question.. do any of you have experience with these models? Seems like it would be a fun SUV with the hemi in it. Hope you guys have some likes and dislikes to share with me.

Best,

Peter

Friends of mine have a Durango with the 3rd row and the driver loves it. It has the 3.6L V6. I have another friend that has the Durango RT with the 5.7 Hemi and she loves it. I wish I could have convinced my wife to get a Durango, but she didn't want a big payment, so that nixed that idea....

Funny you just posted this, we just picked up our 2nd Durango in a row this afternoon. Our lease just expired on our 2017 GT w/Pentastar. The wife liked it so much we just bought this time(I liked it too). Took advantage of 2018 purchase rebates and bought a SXT. Just the perfect 3rd row suv for our 3 kids.

Did you get an AWD model?

Also considering a Durango in the next year as I have 2 kids in car seats myself, but I just wanted to throw the Hyundai/Kia Palisade/Telluride in the mix. It’s a potent v6 awd in appropriate trim, features and cargo are a little better IMO. The Hemi is fantastic for more power, but the Pentastar v6 is proven as well the Lamda from South Korea.

If you don't need to tow with the Durango I would strongly look at the 3.6 also. In sport mode it really surprises me when I do finally drive it. FWIW, when I took ours back to the dealer today, I was just bouncing through the screens and saw "trip B" at 4900 miles. Over that time ours averaged 18.7 mpg, which is all town running kids around and during the winter months. Plus we live on a hill so just to leave its a up and down just to get to the main road. You won't be let down with the Durango if the size fits your needs.

Don’t limit yourself to FCA products. Three row SUVs are super popular and there is a buffet of choices. The Durango is a good one, but so are others.

I have no loyalty to a car company or a brand. You may.

Wife had an Acadia for a bit. No complaints. Don't remember the mpg but she decided it was bad enough to trade for a Camry
