I bought this 2500 without looking at the radiator cap.. It has 144,000 miles, one owner with all the service records. I needed a new thermostat so I looked at the cap. My freind says to clean the coolant system.. gonna youtube that.. I'm freaked enough to ask for my money back, return the truck.

It looks like stop leak residue. Is your temp. gauge where it should be. Heater putting out hot air? From the looks, I would think the same stuff would be in the heater core. Flush the core with garden hose, catch water in gal. milk jug to see how bad it is.

I don't think it's stop leak. It looks like the sediment that coolant develops when it's 10 years old because nobody ever changes it

LOL peed in the radiator... Maybe got a little enthusiastic with the sandwich he was eating over while filling? It's not so weird considering the old egg in the radiator trick.

Agree it looks like stop leak.

If it's not hard crusty bits just flush it out? AF is cheap, flushing easy. I'd be less worried about the cap full of crud and more worried that stuff's built up in your heater core. Still, easy and cheap fix. If you flush your core, do yourself a favor and get the hose clamp tool that has an extension. And rubber hose. And a sprinkler adapter to go to your garden hose. And towels. Lots of towels.
