Greetings

Last October I had the morimoto elite hid kit 5500k installed on my 17 ram rt.
1 week I had to replace 1 ballistic and the relays. The following week the other ballistic had to be replaced.

Have ya experience any issues with this kit?

I had one of mine warrantied twice in one week before they just sent me a different brand ballast for the drivers side.

Has anyone had the complete kit warranty (replace)? If so is it even possible?

I’ve had things go, a ballast or two, I’ve also had profile halos die and other stuff. Never a relay harness itself (maybe some resistors after a year or so). If they are popping that fast I would think it could be an install problem, poor connections, bad ground etc.

I’ve been running the same 50w Morimoto elite ballasts for 3yrs and bulbs. I’ve also been running the same hylux 45w ballasts and xb bulbs for about 2 years. I ran a mopar specific harness on my 14 express for 2 years (had resistor bank crap out right before the 2 year mark) and I’ve been running the new mopar specific harnesses on my 18 laramae for heads and fogs for 1.5yrs no issues yet.

Aftermarket is aftermarket. You want OEM then go OEM ballasts and get them potted and run xb bulbs or better. Harness needs to be installed well, I even put silicone grease on the connections to keep any corrosion from happening. I haven’t tried the new elite ballasts by hylux but was thinking about it. I run older 50w elites on my hot rod and real denso 35w ballasts on that same car.

The relays had to be replaced due to water.
It’s weird that when I use my key fob to unlock the truck the left side headlight won’t turn on. I actually have to play with the headlight switch a few times.

Mine did the exact same thing for a while. Even with the new ballast installed. One day it just started working like normal and has not done it since. I’ve had them for a bit over a year.

Best thing to have that ballast replaced again?
Did you experience any weird sounds from the resistors, ballast or any part of the kit?

sometimes it can just be a loose connection. I have seen it myself. the connection vibrates loose i guess even tho it appears to be clicked in. i have personally seen it and fixed it. turn on the lights and play with each plug and see if they come on. If they do re-seat that plug and put a tie wrap on it holding the 2 plug ends together.it worked for me in the past

Sounds like either ballast or ignitor. Turning the headlight switch on and off is trying to ignite the bulb... aka ignitor or ballast or bulb. Good way to test is to swap parts from a known good working side and test, so swap the ignitor, then the ballast...of course after verifying your getting 12v on the harness plug that goes into the ballast.

I had nothing but issues with my 55w ballasts. Had 3 burn out in less than 4 months. Switch back to my 35s and been running fine for 6 months now. Not sure if it was a faulty set of ballasts or what. They were purchased off Amazon which makes me wonder about them. Thankfully Amazon refunded my money.

I had a Morimoto kit but didn’t want to deal with all the wiring they required for the 15’s and up. I bought a ddm kit for $40 over a year ago and haven’t had to replace anything..
