I've read the original 2stroke LEDs were rather not great. I've searched high and low, and cannot find any real information from user reviews regarding the 2.0 versions. Does anyone have any insight into them?

I currently have TYC projectors with a 5500k HID setup in them (Morimoto). I've never been particularly pleased with the HIDs in these headlights. They are streaky/shadowy, there is a big gap between the cutoffs that is very noticeable and leaves a massive dark spot between the two hotspots down the road. Since these projectors are designed for halogens (and when I had an issue with my HIDs and put the halogens back in that massive gap was gone), and the 2.0 version of the 2stroke is supposed to more closely align with the halogen bulbs, I'm wondering if it would provide a better output pattern than the HIDs I currently have. The 2.0 are supposed to be designed with halogen projectors in mind, so I'm hoping they have taken care of some of the issues previously noted regarding LED in a halogen projector. I know everyone says you cant beat HID for output, but if you saw mine you would want to try. As long as the LED is better than the halogen bulbs in the same projectors as far as output, I consider it a win.

And before anyone recommends I retrofit the headlights with a different HID projector, I have neither the time nor the inclination to go down that road. I am looking for something I can simply remove my HID and install something else in a few minutes time. I dont want to spend days working on a pair of headlights.

My current thought process is to either get the 2stroke 2.0 for my current projectors, or get the 19 style chrome modifystreet projectors with LED bulbs. That would mean I would have to also get AlphaOBD, and a chord/bluetooth adaptor for my laptop since I have an iphone, so in the end that would be a much more expensive road to go down. I could sell my current projectors to make up some of the cost, but I'm still not sure I want to drop that kind of coin on lights again right now.

It’s prob just a bulb alignment issue. Take the headlights out, hook up the ballast to a battery and turn them on with the rear cover off. Play with the bulb alignment and see if it improves.

I ran Morimoto 50w in my stock ram projectors and didn’t have any of the issues you speak of, but your running aftermarket headlights which is usually where the issue lies. TYC is a good brand but they still have a lot to be desired and I’m sure the projector bowls or something is blemished or miss aligned. I swapped FXR 3.0s in my stock projector lights and have never looked back.

So input would be to check bulb alignment. All LEDs will never look great in a halogen setup bc the LED chips are not 360 light beam, they will always be hindered by the chips used. Light output would be much less and HIds are still brighter and offer closer to halogen bulb filament placement and style.

I’ve already done what you suggested with the bulb alignment. Even had to put shins in one of them to get the hotspot close to where it should be.

I read a lot of posts about TYC projectors having better optics than the OEM, and since they’re cheaper, I went for it. Hindsight is a SOB at times. I would have just got OEM from the get go.

Well that sucks. The TYC output is not “better” they have a better cutoff bc they use a clear Lense vs the OEM fresnel Lense. You should post a pic of the beam pattern so we can see.

Worried if you put the leds in the output would be worse honestly.

Lol they seemed shocked that lumens decreased in the ram projector low beam.

Well, that’s not good, lol. I imagine it would be similar for the TYC projectors.

They said on the low beams lux dropped, but increased with the high beams.

Maybe look into these:

Skip ahead to the 5:00 minute mark...just a suggestion, just looking at numbers.
