Anyone else tried running ethanol free gas? I have and am finding I am getting about 3 mpg better mileage on all forms of driving, and maybe a little better when towing my off-shore boat. Not only that the whole engine drivetrain just seems smoother running this fuel. Yes, I pay more for the ethanol free fuel and no the difference in the mileage does not make up for the price difference. But overall the better running truck is worth it. Mean while we get soaked by the fuel providers making so many have to use ethanol combined fuel. And even worse the whole E15 and E85 are just bad for your vehicles. So anyone else really tried ethanol fuel and if so what do you think about it? cheers

Much better without the crap in my Gas. I will pay more.

are you just kidding or do you have to go back to basic math classes

My point is when someone claims hand calculated and reports in tenths like 10.7 that makes me wonder because if you really show hand calculations they should read into the hundredths (11.96) If I need to talk slower for you to understand just let me know.;)

I always round to nearest tenth because anything smaller is meaningless as the pump will be off more than a tenth.

Slim Chance, one thing you might consider is your truck is brand new! When I bought my 2010, it kept getting better gas mileage for an amazing long time. But, I was always burning ethanol free. Sandawilliams, his truck is new, and has a 5.7, I am not certain what year yours is but I would think the 6.4 would have even a more pronounced difference in mileage than our 5.7's and hopefully if yours is older, then his, they have been making improvements on burning ethanol! My 97 Dakota REALLY did not like Ethanol!, the check engine light would come on if I continued to burn it, and the plugs would not last as long, as well as getting worse mileage. The 2010 doesn't complain with check engine lights, (when i can't find ethanol free), but certainly mine loses power and mileage burning it. (doesn't help its lifted and on 35's)

I fill up on 100% gas every time I find it. I’ve seen a 4 mpg improvement on it. My PW is a heavy truck and if I can get 18.5 highway with it I’m as happy as a billy goat with a tin can. Hell 15 in town makes me smile.

I love my truck!

I have a 2006 Dodge 1500, 5.7 Hemi. It's not my daily driver., I only drive it on the weekend and when we go camping. Sometimes I don't drive it for two or three weeks. I was having problems initially with the EGR valve. I kept throwing a check engine light regarding the EGR valve not operating properly. I decided since I don't drive my truck very often, I run ethanol free because I know what ethanol based fuels do when they sit in equipment for long periods of time. Ethanol fuels are hydroscopic so it absorbs moisture, that moisture is what eats away at everything. I decided to start slowly introducing ethanol-free, it's the same price as premium here in Utah. It's also an 88, or I can get it in a 91. After about a half tank to 3/4 of a tank, my check engine light went off and so far I've driven about a thousand miles and the light hasn't come back on. I'm not saying the ethanol-free did anything, but I definitely notice a difference in the way my truck idles. I also have a lot more power off the line it seems, but that could just be in my head. I went for safety and emissions, and my truck passed with flying colors. I also noticed the oil seems to stay amber colored longer. But again that could be just in my head.

:D:D You can always tell who slept through jr. high chemistry class in a conversation about ethanol fuel.

I'd run E30 in my Ram if it was available here.

Since my wife retired I no longer have to use my truck as a daily driver.
It sits in the garage most of the time now, so I switched from the cheaper 10% 87oct to the
( $.50/gal more) 87 no eth just so it's not sitting around in my tank for months at a
time...
It gets better on the no eth stuff anyway so it's a win win...
