my 2006 1500 ticks at startup and stays constant through being warm and when driving. I've read that it could be the lifters or an exhaust leak. im pretty sure this question has been asked a thousand times but any help would be really appreciated.

To answer that I have a 5.7 Hemi 2008 and on a cold start until I drive to my next destination it ticks, it’s called the hemi tick because something of how the engine was manufactured would cause a ticking sound. I thought it was bad when I first noticed it but I asked the same question and got a response saying it was normal

If the tick doesn't go away once you reach operating temp you have broke. Exhaust bolts.

If the tick does go away once you reach operating temp. The probably lifters, as the noise will be less pronounced when warm due to everything taking some time to get a nice oil film going

Hydraulic lifters, when going bad, will tick until oil pressure keeps them pressurized. Once bad, the push rod will often break thru. If the tic goes away within 10 to 15 seconds.....lifter.
PLEASE, correct me if wrong about this. Thanks.

@donovanp97 no its constant ticking just not as bad when up to temp. @LeesEvoX I hope the exhaust bolts aren't broke I don't really wanna spend a weekend trying to get them out.

Broke exhaust bolts are an easy fix, get an extractor set and new bolts. Gasket

If you do have any broken exhaust manifold bolts, it will not take a weekend to extract them. It is a pretty simple process with the right tools and equipment. If you do find one or more are broken, take your time and do the repair right and you will be fine.
