5k miles on my new Power Wagon. I keep hearing a squeaking sound coming from the rear end when I go over even small bumps.

had a friend stand in the bed and bounce the truck, while I was under it. sounds like it's one or more of the bushings for the 4-link suspension.

very annoying.

anyone ever have this happen? can I just spray them with some oil or lubricant?

thanks guys

My 18 does it as well. What’s funny is my 15 Cummins never did it and the only difference was the Cummins didn’t have the shock that’s on top of the differential.

Have someone bounce on it again, and while they are doing it move the brake cables that go through the bracket at the drivers side of the truck (by the 4link arms). That may be where your squeak is coming from too.

X3 to the brake cable. They all do it. The 2019 brake cable was redesigned because of it.

cool. thank you guys. that was it. put a little grease on the cable sheath around where the brackets hold the cable and no more squeak.

Pretty bad when the only lube point on the truck is the brake cable. Do mine every 4-6 weeks depending how much rain we get.

If you have a 4x4, dont forget about the front driveshaft.

I used some 1/2 ID hose spilt it and wrapped it on the cable and secured it with zip ties. Also a side note there is another bracket that is hidden just forward of the wheel well. I was chasing the squeek for awhile before I noticed there was another bracket other than the one right in the wheel well. First pic is the one that's visible the second pic is the one before it hidden in front of the wheel well19010f5165f9b36bb2cf025e5e32ca66.jpgae8b50d08a1f56ca91d02998e87123ff.jpg

Wow fantastic find fellows. Never in 1 million years would I have guessed that metallic squeaky sound was coming from those hoses/bracket.

This one’s been bothering me for a while now, thank you!

That's a great idea. I will be doing that today.

I did see the 2nd bracket while under the truck... thank you.

common issue.
thuren Brackets installed with the lift fixed it right up!

what a pain it is to let it bother you, have the dealer not figure it out, and find out its a brake cable laughing at you.

Do the brake cable brackets automatically come with his lift or are they an add on?

They are included in the kits that require them, or you can get them a la carte if you’re piecing something together.

The larger frame bracket gives you a little more slack in the cable, and the smaller lower control arm bracket pulls the cable off the aluminum shock reservoir so it doesn’t wear through.

I suppose they would probably fix the squeak, but I can’t say I noticed my wire brackets were squeaking before I took them off so I can’t really make a comparison.

they would only squeak under certain conditions...
not necessarily when wet, not necessarily when dry, but maybe after it was wet, it dried with a residue or road grime.
