Try whacking the cluster lightly a few times. I had mine stick when sitting for a while. The tach did the same thing on occasion. I believe they use magnetic pickups. Could be a bad ground behind there also!
Let us know if banging it works! It's kinda like a kid who won't listen and the time-outs don't help correct the behavior. In my day a whack on the butt always worked, at least on me, LOL!

If the tapping doesn't work, it might be the speed sensor in the rear differential. A few bucks, and simple replacement. You'll see it plugged in on top.
