I moved out of state to a more Rural area in April, from NJ to CT. My commute went from 15min to 1hr 30min and 95% of that is on highways like 2 lane in the woods with no road lighting lol. I’ve been using my rigid SRQ pros in the tow hook openings and they have been working great. They have a spot beam pattern and throw lots of light. I’m looking for more light but the combo beams don’t do me much good as I’m driving 65-80mph in in curvy roads. I would be driving right through the flood beam areas and never see anything. So looks like a curved spot beam only bar... not as many manufactures as I would have hoped. Rigid didn’t have much that was in my price range and I have eBay and Amazon bars in the garage. I wanted a curved black out bar with a spot beam in a single row. So I found rough country and have been waiting for sales... originally I wanted the 52” black series curved but it was $279 and I thought it would be too big. I thought the 31” would be too small but I was measuring around the truck looking for spots and saw a 31” pop up on rough Country’s scratch and dent store on eBay. $100 out the door for a basically new bar and I earned $13 in eBay bucks. Got the bar and it had no scratches or anything, looks perfect and it’s bright as balls. It has a 30 degree spot beam which is fine but I would have liked a 20-15* possible pencil beam if possible.
I was worried about output and they said it pulled 12.5amps which is a lot compared to the 42” eBay bar I have (single row straight) and it pulled like 6-7amps. Plugged the bar in and put my nifty little amp meter on it and sure enough it pulles 11.5-12.5 amps and 141-150w. The bar also gets warm pretty quickly so is sucking up juice!
Today I mounted it under the bumper (did this on my last ram express and it worked great) and had to pull out all the wiring as I wanted to upgrade the harness. I pulled the eBay harness (single 40amp) and modified a new Morimoto HID harness I have laying around (dual 40amp waterproof relays). So I have 1 relay powering the 31” rough country and one relay powering the rigid SRQ pros. Waiting on a 6 lot fuse block with grounds from Amazon tmrw to finish up the wiring. I’m going to consolidate my other 2 Morimoto relay harnesses that power my low beam and fog HIDs, plus I have my sub feed wire.
Anyways here are some shots. It’s def bright, don’t think it has the distance as the rigids but it adds a big of filling which is what I wanted.
No lights
31” rough country
All light bars on
Rigid SRQ pros only
