Hello all. I purchased my Ram truck from Ryan Chevrolet in Minot, ND. At the time of purchase, I also purchased a nationwide service contract through CNA National. The Chevrolet dealer is 2.5hrs from where I live, so it makes repairs challenging to say the least. I decided I would make an appointment at Action Dodge in Sidney, MT. considering they are only 1hr away and probably better equipped to handle a Ram repair. I informed them that I have a nationwide service contract through CNA National. They emailed me back and informed me that they do not honor the service contract. I am at a loss on this. I have a deductible, and the bill is paid by the warranty company as soon as the repairs are made.

Call nationwide and ask where you should go that is near you

I think you are taking what the dealer said like they won't work on your vehicle. Of course they will. They simply expect you to pay them directly, want to sell customers FCA sponsored plans not "3rd party" plans.

There appears to be a list of repair centers that have signed up with your service contract provider who will accept direct payment from them. Maybe near you maybe not. Probably the Chev dealer you bought it from is one of those. So, the alternative may well be like many health care plans. pay up front, submit receipts for reimbursement.

From the FAQ on their website:

"They may require you to pay out of pocket for the work performed, and we will reimburse for the covered repairs.". (referring to a CNA service center dealer). So even then, you might have to pay up front for repairs.

I guess I was mistaken when I purchased the plan. I have $100 deductible which isn’t an issue, but according on how much the repair is, there are times when I might not have up front money for an expensive repair.

i totally understand your situation and the premise you bought it under. Don't feel bad, I just read some reviews and there are a number of people who say "i bought a warranty, now x repair place wants me to pay out of pocket first" or "wants me to pay for part of the repair that is not covered". That's not a knock on CNA. It's just the reality of the business. When we purchase warranties, we do with good intentions and expectations that it will all be taken care of. I would say warranty companies do make it sound like purchasing a plan takes any of our worries away!

It think calling CNA to see if someone is closer to you is good advice. If not, then if it were me, I'd take my vehicle to Dodge for the small stuff I can afford to wait for reimbursement on. If something major happens (knock on wood) bring to in to the Chev dealer if they will accept direct payment.

I appreciate your advice. Seems like a good idea. I am moving back home to Florida at the end of next month, and pray that this doesn’t become an issue down there. It’s been to the Chevy dealer four times in the 10,000 miles that I have owned it. It’s been a pretty disappointing truck so far, especially with only 40,000 miles on it. Once I move, I won’t have access to the dealer of purchase. Hopefully there is a list of repair shops I can use. Thank you for your insight on the matter.

I am having a shimmy issue at highway speeds. I thought it was my old tires, so I bought a new set. Still had an issue after the purchase of new tires, so I had them Roadforce balanced. It made the issue better, but it is still there. Over the weekend I swapped the wheels from my wife’s Ram onto mine, drove it, and the issue is still there. After all that, the only thing I can guess is that it is a mechanical issue and not a tire/wheel issue.

I wish you all he best. I would rather be in FLA than Montana! (i'm in alberta. I swear I was switched with a baby at birth who's a prairie boy and i was born to live by the water!) i bet there will be even better access to dealers on the CNA network when you get there! best of luck with the move and truck.

Some have had this issue and iirc, two of the fixes were rebalancing or replacing the drive shaft and some had defective wheels replaced.

Lots of experience with this this. A LOT of dealers will not take anything but a factory warranty so do NOT buy them, regardless of cost.

Did your warranty actually covered any repairs yet?

Lots of aftermarket warranties are scam and would do everything possible not to pay for anything or pay minimum. Any dealer or good repair shop wouldn't want to deal with all the bs that these aftermarket warranties put them through... I was tricked and had century aftermarket warranty and canceled it and got refund due to all the bs reviews it has online. Only buy manufacturers factory warranty...

Search for reviews on your warranty to see what others are saying and consider canceling it and getting a refund if reviews are bad. Might as well use that money and take truck to a good knowledgeable repair shop, not dealership!

Good luck
