Egoist??

My half ton has the stock dual exhaust, and I think it sounds damn nice for stock. Just enough rumble.

At the time when I bought my 2017 Power Wagon (previously had a 2012 PW), I did not "need" all the licky and chewies. So I got the tradesman model. No sexy screens or backup cameras or leather or sunroof or any of it. Just a good ol' plain Jane PW. Now, two years later and I'm in this "itch" of getting either a 2018 fully decked out or the new 2019. I've picked up a bass boat and have identified needing a back up camera to make things easier. I also like the dial and the new 8 speed transmission. I can live without those, but I need to either start upgrading my current one or find a new one. Thoughts? Is there anyone out there that has the same model as me who put in a aftermarket head unit/screen, added a back up camera or had dodge install and hookup one on their little itty bitty tradesman screen?
The 19 2500 PW's have dial?

No but for those of us who aren't constantly hooking up to trailers, it makes things a LOT easier when you don't have to get in and out of your truck all the time to see where the ball is.

I can back up without camera, hook trailers up and back trailers up. And I still love my rear view cameras. Sure is nice to know there’s not a small kid or shirt person behind me when I start backing up

I cannot understand the appeal of a 2500 truck that has less payload and less towing capacity and a smaller fuel tank and worse fuel economy and poor off road capabilities except on wide open ground than a 1500 pickup. A Ram Rebel is a better truck in any way that I can conceive.

And yet you're oddly intrigued by them...:)

Not sure where "poor off road capabilities" is coming from. Are you even aware of what a power wagon offers? Most people that buy this truck are not hauling or towing, although it is still able to do both maybe not to the extent of the diesel trucks but That is not what this truck was designed to do. If you wanna do that fine get a Cummins and tow and haul away. If you want a factory truck that comes with a winch, front / rear lockers and a disconnecting sway bar you buy a power wagon plain and simple. This truck was built for a purpose and that was to crawl over ****. The picture below takes your poor off road capabilities comment and throws it out the window765991180b9251990027ca31294863f3.jpg

A rebel don’t hold a candle to a pw off-road. A rebel wouldn’t even do as good as a stock 2500 hd. It’s just an appearance package. The new 19 rebel finally at least have a rear locking diff. But still I’ll take the solid front axle any day

Lickies and chewies. Spoken like a starving Ranger student.
I like ur avatar - flaming ***** - i was with them once. But most of my times at Bragg was in the one AIR instead of the two PIRs (325th Let's Go). That was in the '80s. Does the 325th still go by "Airborne" infantry regiment vs the two other that go by "Parachute" infantry regiment? Or are they all now just ABCTs?

Umm. No?

I own a '17 PW (Before I knew the Tradesman had a PW option). I have driven a couple different Rebels. There is, quite frankly, NO comparison between the two.

The Rebels I have driven were basically a Big Horn 1500 with a few extra parts and a snazzy grille. Even the adjustable ride height option doesn't do much for you.

The PW, on the other hand, has EVERYTHING offroad going for it. Sure, it's bigger than a half ton but not by much. It also has, as mentioned above, a 12k winch, locking front and rear axles, and front sway bar disconnect. Yes the tow rating has been decreased to what a basic 1500 can haul with the softer springs, but that's to get the suspension flex you need to go off-roading. It also provides a pretty decent on-road ride.

I watched a 3-way comparison between a Raptor, a PW, and a Toyota Tundra TRD. And frankly, the Raptor and PW were pretty much evenly matched in every way aside from a straight-out drag race. I think we can all agree that a Raptor is a very capable off-road truck, and to be basically evenly matched with it is no small feat.

[The Tundra was, frankly, what I expected - the approach and departure angles were so bad it drug the front and rear bumpers on basically everything, and practically tore off the factory mud flaps (yes, mud flaps, on an 'off road' truck).]

I've seen a PW and Raptor go head to head. While the Raptor is a good off road truck, IMOP it doesn't hold a flame to the PW for true off roading or what the PW is able to do. Where it does flat out kill the PW though is wide open areas with some nice whoops. The Raptor was inspired and designed initially for Baja, that's where it was unveiled. But for straight up crawling, the PW kills the Raptor. Now, when the Rebel TRX is released, the Raptor will have some stiff competition there, especially if the actually make a TRX Hellcat like they've been talking about doing.

And Tundra... Hahahaha. My father in law bought a TRD Tundra after I got my PW and he was saying he could take it anywhere I could go. I ended up having to pull his truck outta the mud. He was so pissed. Especially since his truck was 2 yrs older than mine and he paid just as much for his as I did for my PW.

I'm kinda confused why some are on the Power wagon forum to confront it's purpose and capabilities......why ?

Let me educate those a little.
It's been proven over and over that solid axles thrive offroad, especially with disconnecting sway bars.
It's exactly why Jeep has kept them.

If you never wanna go offroad or own a truck with this kind of ability that still pulls over 10K then get yourself a dually.

The Power wagon is a mans toy.

I’ve got the 18 Tradesman Power Wagon and it has a lot of the options that yours didn’t come with but not everything that the fully loaded PW has.
I’ve got the factory backup camera, skid plates, heavyweight cloth seats,4.10’s and a few more things.
I’m not one that buys a first year model change. So I’ll probably hold off and see about the 2020 and to see how the 8 spd holds up to the 6.4 and if there’s gonna be a hp increase. JMHO

I love my truck!

It’s been established that you do NOT have a Power Wagon. You do not have a winch, lockers or disconnecting sway bar, all features that come with both the Power Wagon and the Tradesman with the “Power Wagon package”. Those features, as well as different springs, are what sets the Power Wagon apart from a regular 2500. You have a really nice truck, just not a Power Wagon. I’ll eat my words if I’m wrong but I’m 99.9% confident I’m not.

And just so not to totally hijack the op’s thread, you only live once so if the 19 has enough features that justify the upgrade to you, GO FOR IT!!!
