Guys, my 04 1500 lamp out indicator keeps comin on when i start the truck and itll stay on for a few dings. Now awhile back i took the tail lights off and the lights had melted the housing but everything still worked. Any idea why this could happen?

Had the same issue with my 2003/2500. Dash light on and off intermittently.
Removed the tail lights and then the bulb holders. Pulled the bulbs and noticed on one side of most of the bulbs they were not making good contact in the sockets. Adjusted the wires on the bulbs a bit and reinstalled everything. no issues since.

Those OEM circuit boards are ****. Even replacing them doesn't help after awhile. I still get one on the right rear about once every six months, and that's after reinforcing the retaining tabs and dielectric grease on top of a new circuit board. I just take it apart, turn the lamp around (it's always still good), put it back together and good to go til the next time lol.

I second the circuit boards being junk. I had to replace mine on my 03. The previous owner sold the truck because neither he nor his dealer could figure out the random dinging every 5 minutes while driving down the street. Took me 5 minutes on google to find a thread suggesting to replace the boards. Never had the issue again.

Also, check your 3rd brake light. Its real easy to miss the cargo lights or 3rd brake when checking to see if all your bulbs light up.

And the boards are a pretty cheap buy anyway. And both sides are struggling. But ill definitely check the third break light as well!!
