I have been eye balling a 2019 limited. I know I cant swing it right now but I have come pretty close to begging the wife on a demo that is for sale.

After seeing the expense all the extras on my Laramie, I don't know if I want another Ram better yet a high end one.

Then my 2016 Laramie with 88k started having issues. Nothing mechanical that would be easy and probably cheaper. I had most of the same issues on my 2014 2500 Laramie.

Let's go through the electrical list of BS.
1. Overhead console with LED's X 2 ( actually 4 times, bought 2 off ebay that didn't work) Actually by 3 1 under warranty.
2. analog speedometer goes cuckoo for cocoa puffs between 67-80mph.
3. homelink module twice (2nd time cost me $493 installed)
4. multi function lever (turn signals)
5. Rear tail light assembly needs to be changed ( $200 minimum with shipping) Any idea how many incandescent bulbs I could have changed for that.
6. All the bulbs in the high center stop light because the seal leaked multiple times.
7. Park sense is a joke. If it drizzles that goes cuckoo for cocoa puffs.
Anyone else have all these issues or just me? Could all of this (other than high center lights) be caused by one bad harness somewhere? If so which one?

I have never had an issue I have a 2014 ram 1500 with almost 130k and has never had electrical problems I don’t know if it’s luck but to us it’s been a very solid truck

Not sure given your issues, that buying the first year of a major redesign vehicle would be mentally healthy for you. buy a ford or a gm then come back to the Ram and praise the Lord that he put them on this earth:banana-mario:

Here is what you do...call salesman, get him "in" on your deal. Take your truck in, salesman "loans" you a test drive truck for 10 minutes while he checks yours out.

Wife falls in love with new one...BAM...

I`m not sure i want to fall for the "new first year design = oh gawd wait till it the bugs are worked out" excuse, that i hear so many bring up in conversation with a ram truck.
I could understand the fear if it were a totally different truck, engine, transmission. Wait until the hemi is gone, then the new kid on the block arrives. Thats when you should be concerned.

First of all, the latest 5.7 hemi engine and 8 speed transmissions are no different... still made in the same place the same way. The hemi hasnt changed much, neither have the components its built from. The 2019 sheet metal is stamped a little different, but its still made from the same materials they`ve had for a very long time. Suspension is not enough change to warrant "oh no, its a different truck". The bigger things i see with newly released designed ram trucks for 2019, are the dumb radios they went to in them, and i`m speaking of the ram trucks when they switched to those WORTHLESS panasonic radios. And if you want to stay away from the real problem, buy a truck with the least amount of bells and whistles. The more bells and whistles, the more problems.

But as far as these 2019+ rams are concerned... i wouldnt hesitate or be much worried about it... it really isnt THAT much different than previous Gen4`s, other than looks.
And always keep in mind folks... if its got tit`s or tires, you cant ever stop it from having problems. It just goes with the territories.

that's true. but you can't do much about how Fugly the 2019's are outside. Sorry, couldn't resist!:banana-mario::biggun:
LOL... i hear yah... i couldnt look at them when they first came out, but they have grown on me since. I was at my dealer the other day, they had a 19 rebel (granite color w/red interior) that i just absolutely fell in love with. But since my 18 hemi sport just now turned a year old, i cant have the 19 rebel that i saw. Its just not worth it to me to go under water for the 19, even though i really liked it alot. I think i fell more in love with it because it had the locker diff, and the interior was so nice.

The 19 rebels look good because they are fairly close to what the 18 and earlier rebels looked like, IMHO.

As far as first year issues....any truck will have them. Just look at threads in the 5th gen forum. Most of them are not mechanicals but there are plenty of nagging issues going around. Just because the drive train hasn't changed doesnt mean there isn't plenty of other stuff that is brand new.

The list of things going wrong with your 16 is annoying for sure, but you also aren't seeing any major issues either. It could be a lot worse!

My 14 now has 84,000 on it and "knock on wood" the only issue I've had is about a year ago I started to get warning that rear left turn signal bulb is burnt out. But after a period of time (any time from minutes to a day) it fixes itself. Keep in mind that the turn signal actually still works normally, but in the cab it does the fast blink like the bulb is actually out. Sometimes it won't for months and other times happens daily.

I'm guessing there may be an issue with the connection having a problem that fools the computer to think it is out. One of these days I'll try to find it, but for now I don't care enough. :)

I will always be envious of guys with good wives. But mine ran off 20 years ag. Best thing that ever happened to me. I don't have to ask anyone, including a loan officer wether I can have something or not. Yet, I still drive my 2011, and am perfectly happy with it.

But, OP, have you thought of bluffing? Take the new truck for a test drive. Take it home and tell Sweetie what you just bought, and see if she kills you or not.
