Hi everyone, i own a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500, the engine just blew and its a 5.7 ltr v8 hemi. My friend has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with a 5.7 ltr v8 engine that he's willing to give me. Im wondering will that engine swap work? Also will i need to change anything with the mounting or computer? Thankyou to whoever can help!!

Engines are virtually identical except your original engine has EGR but the 2500 engine will not. Your options here are either custom tune your truck to tune out the EGR and leave it unhooked or drill the EGR port out on the passenger head, install EGR valve with tube and swap your original intake manifold on. Or live with the CEL lol.

It will just be an annoyance.

I pulled the fuse on my ABS and just put a piece of tape on the instrument cluster over the light.....high tech I say.

That. Since there will be no physical EGR installed it'll just **** off the computer because it's not getting the input. Will only matter if you live somewhere that does plug in emissions testing.
