IF you follow that link above, you will see eTrailer is talking about class 3 hitch bars .... not at all what i am talking about .... as stated before in this discussion, i am towing a 25' Keystone Passport (2520rl) ... tongue wt is 900#s and this combo is nowhere near overweight for this truck .. the ref. to 12,700#s is from RAM not my rig ... TT just like trucks have been raising tire sizes over the years, in part to gain road clearance over the increasing length of TT .. my home state is Pa, just in case you choose to stay clear of me .. lifting the truck will have more warranty issues than towing my size trailer ... also, this is using a WD hitch designed by Reese .. this tailgate is designed to strengthen the center of the aluminum tailgate

Tailgate is designed to increase MPG; get used to it, because the regulations mean every truck will be using them due to environmental requirements, even if you don't like them (see DPF for more info).

2" Mopar Lift does not affect warranty when installed by dealer, btw; on the other hand, off roading (with or without this OEM lift) will void it. Most lifts need to be legally proven to be the cause of any mechanical issues (the smaller the lift, the harder that is).

have you ever noticed when a tailgate breaks it breaks in the center ... and have you ever tried to crush/bend a beer can, it is almost impossible to bend the bottom rounded part of the can ... thus the tailgate shape

I'll agree with you on the physics of the curve but it's in the wrong direction for where it's located to strengthening the tailgate. With it being so high, it has nothing to do with rear impact strengthening. It won't help with load support as the curve is in the wrong direction.
If you notice the shape of the tailgate lip, it shaped that way for aerodynamic purposes. It works in conjunction with the shape of the tailgate.
I'll try to find the video I watched on explaining the tailgate curve/lip aerodynamic purposes.

i saw that video and i do like the smoke effects .. BUT when i broke my tailgates, in the past, it was on the top edge just above the handle, not talking about rear impact ... the base is supported by both hinges and the top has no support when the tailgate is down and a heavy load is on the tailgate .. my issue is with the lack of clearance between a 2018 Keystone 25' TT hitch and the tailgate when using a WD hitch (7500#s) ... it is fine with my 16' utility trailer (5000#s)

Well, if we are disregarding all of RAM's videos and explanations and jumping into conspiracy territory, then I will argue the real reason for the improved crash ratings is the reinforcing retractable bar on the front bumper. It sucks that they remove it on the Air Suspension and Rebels, since those will fare much worse in crashes now.

I know on my 2018 when the 7 pin plug is attached the rear back up/parking sensors automatically turn off. I wonder why they didn't program the auto tailgate function to do the same when plugged in. This would force someone to physically walk to the rear and open the tailgate manually, and at least having eyes on the tailgate when lowering it.
Seems like a good mod for someone to program with a scan guage of some sort.

it's funny, traded my 2019 Ram 1500 where the tailgate touches the TT hitch ball (when tailgate is down) on a 2019 Ram 2500 ... plugged in the TT hitch without making any changes and the hitch ball clears the tailgate (when down) by over 6" .. same hitch shank setup for the the TT .... go figure
