Do you find your lights not as bright as you would expect?

Yes. But I knew going into buying these that they would be no where near the output/brightness of a retrofit. Still bummed nonetheless.

Honestly my stock quads feel brighter...

I’m in PA, lots of deer and bought these with hopes of lighting up the road.

I can’t see **** now.

For what it's worth, most - if not all - of my driving it done in a very well-lit city (which recently has converted most of the street lights to LEDs) which probably doesn't help.

I am sure if I went out to a darker area of where I live I'd appreciate them a tad more.

I have enjoyed reading the thread of those that have bought the eBay "clones" of these and have thrown in HID/LED bulbs or cracking them up to modify them. The output is rather impressive and definitely beats out what the XB's are currently at...in my opinion of course. Nothing beats that crispy blue bright cutoff.

Is the output on these headlights really THAT bad? Over stock quads? I'm strongly considering buying these as well, but if the output is trash, that negates $500 off the total value of these.

I've seen videos of these lights and the output doesn't seem too bad, but then again those are videos. I'd love to see a demo in real life.

I think they are way better than stock quads but I also was running stock bulbs as well. Maybe some of the others were running brighter bulbs cause I'm pretty happy with output and even more so with the look

I’ve tried taking photos to post here for night driving and found the photos to be a false depiction of the out put (for lack of a better descriptive word) they photograph better than what they actually do. Not sure why this happens which I’m sure there is an explanation for but every time I take a photo I’m like damn I wish they performed that good and end up deleting since I don’t want to post it to give a false impression of their performance. If your looking for just light upgrades put a set of HIDs in your stock projectors and they will out perform these. But personally as I wait on my 3rd replacement light I do love the looks!

It’s better, and worse lol.

The light seems “brighter” but since the beams seem to be focused more tightly it looks like you lose some visibility.

This is my personal experience with wining hills in rural suburbia PA

I have projectors with 3000 lumen LED bulbs and while a significant upgrade over the stock bulbs, I was left wanting a bit more brightness. Maybe it could be the projectors themselves because the high beams look bright enough.

Also, I like the looks of these Morimotos a LOT more than my projectors that make my truck kinda look like an angler fish. I just wish they had these with the chrome trim to match my grille. If not, I have plans to repaint the housing chrome with a mix of textured charcoal or matte silver to mimic what the new HDs have.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably wait till later this year to get one of these once all of the potential bugs get worked out and (hopefully) the price drops.

These are lightyears better than the stock quads. There is no comparison at all.

I’ll take that bet. Over the long weekend coming up I’ll measure them both with a lux meter. If I was to guess I would expect a 10-15% increase at absolute maximum.

My wife’s Q60 blows these things out of the water.

Not entirely fair maybe but I’m willing to bet the difference between the Q60 lights and my Morimoto’s is far larger than the Morimoto lights and stock quads.

I am early 40's and I will tell you that driving with the stock quads to me is downright scary, especially at night on a highway in any rain or sleet with the low beams on. They wash out and I honestly couldn't tell if they were even on. My wife even got in my truck the other night and couldn't believe the difference these made. And if she notices, then I know I am not out of my mind.

You are correct about the stock quad light ram is notorious for having some of the worse lights on the market straight from the factory.

Well, a lux meter won’t lie.

I’m not saying it isn’t stronger, I’m saying I don’t think it’s quite as strong as the price tag dictates or people want to believe.

I do not need a lux meter to tell me that I can see now at night while driving. Considering all of the other options out there I am happy with my decision. It was cheaper than trading in for a new ram. LOL. And should be much more reliable than worrying about ballasts with HIDs.

I need a little help. I have Morimoto XB LED Headlights installed on a 2015 RAM. As expected on this year RAM, I have a problem with the lights, namely, the low beam lights go out intermittently, come back, go out again after a while... Of course, I get an error message in the truck. I have the resistors, provided by Morimoto which supposed to be used on a 2015 RAM. I haven't installed them yet and would prefer not to install them at all if I can help it. I am aware that it's possible to remedy this problem with AlfaOBD and, supposedly, some folks on this forum have done it. I am looking for any possible information and, even better, instructions on how to do it, please!

I'd be interested to see what the meter reads. I was extremely disappointed with Morimoto's DOT XB fogs at 1200 lumens... Because of that, I couldn't bring myself to drop what they are asking for their DOT headlights, aside from all the issues associated with them... I did find a vast improvement upgrading factory 55w bulbs with 65w bulbs in my factory projectors and fogs!!

I see your looking to change your factory settings to projector led headlights. It is possible with Alfa obd but the hardest part about Alfa is getting your vehicle pin. Try the dealer or go a faster way and take it to a lock Smith that’s what I did. Then look up Alfa OBD on here they have some good instructions.

You’re gonna change VehicleConfig 3: High Intensity Discharge Head Lamps to “yes”. This will stop the PWM going to the low beam circuit.

The PIN is only needed to make RF Hub changes (program keys, reset hub for tire pressure, etc).
