This is actually a good marketing ploy by SXM. They always give free trials and months free, as well as "great" deals. Hopefully no one pays full price anymore.

I think it's funny when my year ran up, I called to cancel to get the deal for $5 per month. They call my first year a "free trial", but it was part of a package that cost $1000 on the truck when brand new. Not sure that it was a "free trial".

Its free because even the super basic radio has the 1 year free, if you upgraded to either the 5" or 8" screen, its still same 1 year free, but the price your paying was the upgrade to the radio/screen/buttons

Actually, it wasn't part of $1k package, it was only $450. The popular equipment package, it wasn't free (or listed as a free trial).

I've got a free 3 month trial with my truck and it seems nice but I don't think I will be paying for it after it expires.
I hope I don't get inundated with phone calls when it does expire.

You most likely won’t miss it. Unless you like listening to the same songs over and over again.

You will most likely be getting phone calls.

It takes forever to get these people to quit calling once you cancel so three free months isn't enough incentive for me to want deal with all that ******** again after it expires. They'll end up making money over this.

the $450 is the cloth upgrade instead of the vinyl tradesman seats

dont believe me buy a tradesman and get 1 year free xm as well, like i said all of the trucks get 1st year free - your trying really hard to fight this, but go into a dealership and talk to the sales people.

i can tell your build was a tradesman taht had the "upgraded big horn style cloth seats"

I'm just saying it doesn't say "free" and if I didn't get that package I would have not gotten Sirius.

At the end of the day we all got duped somehow someway at the dealer and with XM. They’ll never get one penny of my money ever again and I’m sure I’m not the only one. When I write off a company, store or person it’s for life lol.

That’s stupid. I have SiriusXM and had satellite radio since it launched in 2001. When I was stationed overseas I used the app all of the time. I can honestly say that telemarketers do what telemarketers do and no matter how many lawsuits happen they will still call. Pity that it doesn’t happen to more inhospitable actors like credit card refinance marketers (I have zero credit cards, only debit and get at least two calls a day and I am on the no call list)

I've had my subscription on & off for about 15 years. Radio reception is terrible in my area, so it's a good alternative... for the right price. Yes, the programming gets repetitive... so I'll switch to a different channel for a while. The renewal phone calls get annoying. I have SXM in two vehicles. I have a certain "pain threshold" when it comes to the renewal price. My 2016 Ram only has 13,000 miles on it, so it's not driven a LOT. Same for my 17 Focus ST (currently at 4000 miles). I only have a 3.5 mile commute, & I can always stream off of Pandora or IHeartRadio, or go Bluetooth off of the playlist on my phone. I also have a Zune HD I can plug in. At $5 a month, I'm in... but that's about as high as I'll go... there are just too many other options for less money.

Smartphone + music app of choice + downloads + playlist = play the music you want to hear at any given time instead of the paid repetition on SiriusXM that leads to never wanting to hear a particular song again. And no ads ever.
Sirius is a ripoff. Be your own DJ.

agree with that. my daughter renewed but she waded through 3 rounds of offers on email, phone, etc before renewing for 6 months i think. honestly, the only channel i listen to speak of is yacht rock (don't judge! i'm 57! lol) Its the bane of having been around a lot of music and genres for 31 years in my career, never mind years before that. So i've heard all the popular stuff a million times. i literally stopped listening to music for 5 yrs...long story. and i'm just building up a super list on my phone the past year or so. 580 songs seems like a lot but....i had 4000 plus cds at one point. lol. So yeah, at this point unless i have better selection of channels once i'm done the year trial, i'd be paying for yacht rock only pretty much.
Am next door to you, I am a way older guy, I use the OLD ones, I am not sure which channel you are talking about. every time they send me a bill for another year at 250.oo or what ever, I phone them up and tell them to stick it, I use about 3-4 channels, after the dust clears, we usually settle on 95.oo taxes in/per year. But don't ever let them record your CC or you will pay full price .

I have no idea how they stay in business.

Dis-honest business model, constant "commercial" interruptions, repetitive programming.

I buy my music and put it on my phone, renting music seems like a stupid idea financially.

I too, like some local radio with local info, news and such.

I’ll never give these POS my money ever. Only used the free in my Jeep, 2016 Ram and 2017 Ram.

Spotify is a great alternative and cheaper. Better cuz you can download too!

There is away around this that I use. Most credit cards have the ability to generate "virtual" CC numbers. They are a one time usage and expire within 30-45 days. I generate a virtual CC number and give it to them. So now when the renewal time comes and they try to slam me at full price they end up immediately notifying me my CC is no good. Which of course gives me the opportunity to either cancel or generate another virtual CC number. But yes a VERY horrible company to deal with and an unfortunate example of what happens when there is no other providers of satellite radio.

Yes its now a monopoly. Previous to 2008 it was an "oligopoly" ( a state of limited competition, in which a market is shared by a small number of producers or sellers ). There were originally 2 satellite radio providers, Sirius and XM. Neither were in great financial state and their continued survival became dependent upon the merger of the 2 companies into one which is SiriusXm. I pasted a link to an older article that briefly talks about the merger.
