Any instructions on the alfaobd activation of the lights would sure be appreciated.

Just installed the oem LEDs and had to run the wires on my 2016 Laramie 1500. I still need to find the correct place to plug in the pin, but everything was pretty simple.

I bought the bluetooth obd dongle and the alfaobd app. No experience with it at all and would appreciate the help so i don't have to read through all 230 pages of the diy thread on it.

This is what I found worked. In the car confugure change toward the bottom there is a setting truck cargo lamp. Select yes and they will come on.

Thanks! Wonder why the harness comes with the kit if the truck already had it? Maybe some do some don’t?

I read the AlfaOBD thread. Is there any disadvantage to using the alpha instead of having the dealer flash, besides the cost the dealer will charge?
I paid the dealer $76 to flash mine because I also installed the oem switch in the bed so I don’t have to get in the cab to turn them on. Alfa can’t add the switch but works well for just the lights.

I installed the lights but before I realized it was prewired I thought I had to put in the wire harness. I unhooked the battery as the instructions say and pulled both plugs out of the BCM. I then realized it was already prewired. When I put everything back together and hooked up the battery the radio is now asking for an anti theft code and the truck wont start and is asking me to depress the clutch... its an automatic. Please help!!!

Guys,

I was told the two plugs I have behind my rear bumper in picture #1 below were for the bed lights on my 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman. I ordered the bed lights (5182672AA, 5182673AA) and the plugs don't match or connect. Can anyone let me know what's going on?

I know there are different part # for different year trucks, maybe they use different plugs? I don’t know, just a thought.

TC...that does not look like anywhere near what the plugs on my 2017 2500 were. The 2 connectors that you should be using are under the bed in the corners, one on each side. I pasted pics below of the driver's side connection. The wire that you see on the right is the pigtail from the LED light. The wire on the left is the factory harness that was under the bed. You can see the white clip that pins the factory harness to the underside of the bed. If I remember correctly, there may have been a "cap" or "plug" on the factory end that needed to come off first before you could connect the LED pigtail. And if that is the case you may have the plug still on the end. Press down on that black tab on the top that you see in your pic above and see if it pulls off. Look closely at the end of the pigtail on the LED wire, the electrical connector on the end will probably look similar to the plug that is on the end of the factory harness that needs to come off first.

Thanks so much for your response. Definitely makes sense and I'll see if I can pull the ends off of my plugs. I just went under the truck and the ends of the existing plugs do come off! Who would of thought it was that easy! Now will with the ends pulled off, they match the LED bed lighting plugs. Thanks again!
