Don't mistakenly pump gas in the fuel tank, and just because the pump handle is green that doesn't mean it's diesel(F.U. BP gas stations).
When towing/hauling, be sure to idle the truck to cool off the EGT and turbo. You can use OBD2 reader and an app like Torque to read the EGTB1S1 (pre-turbo) and EGTB1S2 (post-turbo) temps and let them get down to/under 400°F. As a side note the EGTB1S3 is post DPF, when this temp is above 1000°F the truck is doing a regen(cleaning the DPF).

Welcome ClayBreaker!
Think you will really enjoy the 6.7 CTD. Had 98, 03 and 05 3500s with the 5.9 CTD, as well as a 06 2500 with the 5.9. Just for reference, the 05 got worked hard. I lost count of how many 32' gooseneck loads of tight round bales of hay I hauled between Mississippi and Texas - all grossing between 38k and 40k lbs. I'm pretty sure you won't have any trouble pulling your travel trailer with the 6.7 CTD lol.

Enjoy your new ride!

Watch how much foot you are putting on the skinny pedal until the truck warms up. BTW, the 2013 and newer CTDs don't have regeneration exhaust. That was when FCA switched over to DEF fluid. I would also advise you to not let your CTD idle for extended periods because this can build soot up in the EGR cooler and plug it. I wish the EPA had their emission crap shoved where the sun doesn't shine.

I was looking online at the 6.7 owners manual they do not give you one.... But anyway they were talking about the Regen and the does and don't .. so my truck does not do that... even shows a light to watch out for.. and I clicked on the 2018 2500/3500 diesel supplement.. well thats one less thing to look for. Dealer ried to sell me a service contract for all my maintenance up to 75k miles.. book said change oil before 15K or when the truck tells you to.. sales guy said you need to change the oil every 7.5k miles..... telling my what a bargain he was giving me for the contract.. $1750 I think it was....

Any diesel that uses a DPF has to go through a regeneration cycle or the DPF will plug up. The current CTD engines do a regeneration cycle, either an active one where the fuel injection is added and timed to raise the exhaust temps. If your working the engine hard enough to keep the DPF temp over 1000°F, that is a passive regen. Unless there is a problem, without monitoring for it you won't know the truck is in a regen cycle.
DEF has nothing to do with the DPF. FCA started using DEF to meet emissions and to be able to make more horsepower/torque. The DEF doesn't directly do anything to the engine to produce power but it does allow more NOx to be neutralize in the SCR.

Congrats on the new truck!
I also just got a "new to me" 2017 2500 with CTD and am looking forward to towing my TT to see how different it is compared to my '97 1500 with a 5.9 gasser and 4.10 gears, on a good day my towing MPG was about 7-8 mpg.

The Cummins 6.7 is a serious beast, and makes the truck do what it was designed to do... haul a load without any problems and without straining to do so. I am 25 months into my 2017 2500 Laramie, and love it. Unladen, it is "faster than a speeding ticket"; when pulling the four ton V-Lite (which weighs ~8,000 loaded), I keep checking to see if the trailer is still back there.

DEF is not a big deal... adding a 2.5-gallon jug ever so often... more when towing a lot, but not enough to be a problem by any means. The 6.7 is made for work... using it for pleasure is child's play.

As for oil and filter changes, follow what the "computer" tells you, or once annually, whichever is sooner. It will probably go 12,000-13,000 before the remaining percentage on the fuel and oil filters gets into the low 20% range. Again, it depends upon the type of driving you do. I have yet to find a sales rep who will tell anybody this. The guy who sold me mine referred me to the Service Manager, who verified this.

I have had my '18 for 6 month and 1100 miles. Things I have figured out:
if you use the exhaust break all the time, when "idling" down to a stop, sometimes there will be a big clunk. Riding the brake a tad will take the slack out and it will smooth out the trans when downshifting.

2018s have the new security for the OBD and without the bypass cable, 3 different brands of readers won't recolonize the truck.

DEF lasts about 3k miles on a DD.

The rear seat mod is something that Ram should have from the factory. Not as much space as the MegaCab, but enough to get necessaries back there (jumper cables, small tool kit, blankets and small shovel for winter time.

Running with AC on takes less than 1mpg off.

German Shepherds love to chew on seatbelts.

Hmm...curious, I've put 2700+ miles on my recently acquired 2017 CTD and the gauge for the DEF shows I have used less than 1/4 tank.
I've only towed around 7.000 lbs for about 80 miles and that's where I actually saw where the pointer show a little movement.
I wonder if my truck is not using enough or if your truck is using too much?

The amount of DEF a vehicle consumes depends upon a number of factors... if you do not tow very often, a tank of DEF will seem to last forever. If you tow nearly all the time, it will use more DEF. The last time I topped off my DEF was several months ago, just before I put my TT into storage. Now, several thousand miles later, the gauge shows ~1/2 tank. I will probably top it off again sometime soon, but not needing to do it right away.

Love my 2018 Tradesman. It's a work truck and 4x4 is used every day as I live on a mountain with steep gravel driveway. I love how it pretty much goes wherever I point it, rarely have to drop it into 4low while working on my property. She's filthy and the bed interiors already scratched up from, you know, work. Oh, and I drive with my tow mirrors out ALL the time ;)
