I come from a Ford owner family and still own 2. For Oil and filters it has always been easy to simply buy Motorcraft. Now I don't know anything about the oil the factory filled my engine with but I did pick up a K&N Oil filter. Is it conventional, syn blend, or synthetic. I prefer to stay with the same oil the factory uses. My new 2019 RAM is a 1500 Classic 3,6K V6 24 Valve WT.
I would appreciate any and all advice for the proper oil.
BTW I towed a car 2,000 miles on a dolly so I want to change the oil very soon.

Mopar branded oil is the stock that they put in my engine. it's all rebranded and supplied by one of the usual names for the Big 3.

I'd only worry about proper weight oil.
There is no bad oil these days but I personally like to stay with the popular brands like Castrol, Valvoline and Mobile 1.
I actually switch back and forth.....whatever is on sale.

That said, oil threads can go astray.

sorry I may have misread original post in terms of factory oil request. i see the question now is about dino, semi, and full synth. i'm more concerned with how often i change my oil than the type. and if i wasn't on warranty would switch to a heavier weight.

I have had one of the free oil changes at my dealer and the work order shows full synthetic oil. I would worry more about the quality of the factory oil filter and who makes it. I have seen 250* + oil temp when towing so you certainly wouldnt want dino oil as it wont tolerate as much heat as these engines generate.

I have used Valvolene Syn-Power Full Synthetic in my tractor for 18 years; Mobil 1 in a Chevy.
Thanks for all the replies. Since it is apparently safe to go with full syn, I'll use Valvolene.

The 3.6 Pentastar comes with 5W20 Mopar conventional oil which is made by Pennzoil. It is the same as Pennzoil yellow bottle conventional oil. Contrary to what is mentioned in this thread it is one of the better conventional oils around.

I have the same engine in my Jeep Wrangler and it gets PUP 5W30 (Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Synthetic). I am not a fan of 5W20 oils and have found that running 5W30 instead gives me peace of mind that I am doing everything I can to protect my engines. Many here run 5W30 in their Rams.

Pennzoil is an approved oil by FCA for what that is worth but really run what you like.

Am dropping the factory oil in my new truck (2019 1500 Classic 5.7 Hemi) tomorrow morning with around only 750 miles on her. Will be replacing with K&N filter and Valvoline full synthetic. Am a firm believer in the synthetic oils, had an engine years ago with a blown apart, leaking drain plug washer. Noticed no pressure cruising up I95 80 mph had converted to synthetic prior to this and the engine didn't even get hot before I got to a repair shop. The other lesson was to change the cheap drain plug gasket more often. P.S. it will be 5W20 but with that said 5W30 is fine in my humble estimation as well. Will be keeping a log with receipts on my oil changes. Best wishes on whatever you decide.

Mobil 1 does not have the Chrysler certification.

My thought on this. If the 5.7 and 6.4's are going to eat cams they are going to eat cams from day 1. If a motor has to have a certain brand oil to not eat a cam it was a pos when it was put together. My 14 1500 5.7 got m1(thats my brand of choice)5w20 high mileage from day 1. Changed oil every(and you will laugh at this )10k to 12k. Got rid of it at 118k to get my 16 2500 6.4. My brother has a 2012 grand Cherokee 5.7 and has 178k and his cheap ass puts the cheapest on sale oil in it he can get his hands on. Only problem he has had is a shift solenoid go bad 2 times. So i guess the moral of my story is if its a pos its a pos. Bad parts is what it is. These motors should go 200k all day long and if you get one with good parts from the get go it will. Just my 2.5cents
