My MaxCare from MOPAR is unlimited time, unlimited mileage.

Too bad they don’t offer it anymore, I might’ve considered a second vehicle from the line just because of that coverage.

I have this on my Grand Cherokee Summit, My papers says until 999999 miles. Then it begins all over again.( I have 57K) It has a $100.00 deductible. I've uses it twice. Its imperative on 4 corner air suspensions! This offer ended on 11/31/2018. If you are lucky to have it its the Best ever offered.

And this is a Mopar warranty? That’s weird. Maybe it’s because it’s a used truck....

That’s definitely strange because the Mopar MVP lifetime warranty I bought when I bought my truck brand new last year won’t essentially take over until all my factory warranty is up. Are you sure it’s not 6 years? I’m thinking I mighta been one of the last ones to get lifetime warranty because I think they changed it to only 6 or 7 years max with unlimited mileage.

all mopar warranty plans take off the first 3 years when you buy a new truck and you should buy it at the near end of the 3 years

My freind has a Grand Cherokee Jeep and its almost 4 years old it had to have the whole engine replaced . He was lucky to have the Mopar warranty on his Jeep.He paid the 200 hundred deductible and they dropped a brand new engine in his truck with a bunch of other stuff. So it really does pay to have this extended warranty on your Mopar:banana-mario:

Wouldn't the basic Jeep 5 year/100,000 powertrain warranty have already covered your buddy's vehicle?

I bought an extended warranty on my truck... then i remembered I am a mechanic and was trying to figure out why I would charge myself a $100 deductible for labor. I returned the warranty and they prorated me. I lost money. A $0 deductible with full coverage parts would be nice. Sorry you had that experience. :(

Might not be for everyone, but for some it is a wise investment. I certainly wouldn't call it a scam though.
If you aren't planning on keeping the vehicle, then it probably isn't the wisest of investments.

I just bought a 2017 2500 that just came of a lease and still has factory warranty, the 3yr is almost almost done. Being these new vehicles can be pricey to repair I purchased the Mopar 8yr extended warranty, I don't know how they can do this and get away with it and it seems like fraud to me but the warranty doesn't start on the day you purchase the vehicle it goes back to the day it was first put in service when new so they are making you pay for time already gone by. So in my case I bought a 2017 this yr and only really get 6yrs of coverage on a 8 year extended warranty.

This is ONLY the case if you are the original owner OR the truck is a Certified Preowned, if it is a used vehicle policy you get the entire time and miles you pay for.
I don't know how much the price differs between the 2 types though.

it says in the contract when coverage begins.

Come on.... it's 2019. There's no accountability left in the world. People aren't actually bound by what's in contracts they sign. That's so 2005!

Seriously OP, before you came in here with BOLD letters trying to enlighten us all about some HUGE scam, did you even read the contract you signed?

That’s the way it works.

its simply part of the whole marketing deal to sell warranty plans. when i bought my new victory bike and asked about extended warranties, the cost was 1900 for an extra 3 years, which sounded expensive. but when they call it a 5 year extended warranty, it sounds a hell of a lot better. to me its insulting to the buyer, but someone came up with that brilliant idea to market it that way to sell more plans. its deceitful in my mind, unfortunately, not illegal and a given in the industry. business managers don't even blink an eye when they sell it to you that way.

My Grand Cherokee Summit is a 2014 with 57K in super mint condition. Both services would have been out of my pocket, instead only $100. ea. time. I'm at the mileage where the air suspension usually dies. This is a huge discussion on The Jeep Garage Forum. Most folks without the MaxiCare coverage, opt to convert to springs and shocks to save lots of money.

It's really kind of sad. Today, we routinely spend on a vehicle what a nice house went for not too long ago. The investment in such a huge depreciation loss seems insane on the surface! Add to that, we spend multi thousands on warranties to hedge against a certain fate.....mechanical failure/ breakdown. Over a 40+ year working career, a person typically spends way north of half a million on cars, all expenses germane thereto included!

Then, to add insult to financial injury, we must dance the dance of "which cup is the pea under" with warranty/insurance.

Is it just possible that a person might benefit from a combination of frugal savings and self pay for repairs and being extremely diligent with maintenance/repairs?

One of my friends who has advanced degrees and a very prestigious job drives a very old clunker to and from work, and has the new mega buck vehicle for his wife. He loves to brag that he bought the clunker for 800 dollars 23 years ago, and has spent literally scant amounts on upkeep and repairs to date.

Not all of us can reasonably do this of course, but it does make for interesting conversation!

OK hope your saying that when all the electrical on your dash panel goes crazy. The dealer will have a field day on the bill with you . Just remember you could of purchased a warranty plan but your ass was not for that seat.:banana-mario:

Wow, my thoughts exactly. The last time I bought an extended warranty was on a used 1994 Chrysler New Yorker at the dealer; it was because of the new CFC refrigerant R134a A/C systems going into vehicles, I didn't trust it over the good old R-12. Well, never had trouble with the A/C but the car started bucking like a bronco at 30K miles, I thought it was the transmission, turned out if was spark plug wires, a "maintenance" item not covered by factory or the extended "bumper-to-bumper" warranty. At the time at least one other mfr, Ford, did cover such items. I have no idea today but it taught me two lessons, read the fine print, and you probably won't come out economically buying the extended warranty. Why would they sell it if it wasn't a money maker for them? In fact most warranties are really "peace of mind" policies and can very well be worth it, depending on your personality, that is if you are risk-averse. Same car transmission did implode at 34K miles, but was covered by the factory warranty, I totally wasted the $800 on the extended warranty. Kept the car for 100K miles and then my grandmother and later a co-worker owned it, a thorny recurring trans problem was the old-age issue but it turned out solvable when the right technician was consulted.

I would rather smash my nuts with a hammer before I would even consider going to rip off like a dealer. Never been, and never will

About a year ago I bought a Mopar warranty for my 2012 with 33k miles on it. Right in the contract it put the actual expire dates and it was 5/60 from day I bought the warranty. I know buying the warranty when new you are paying for double coverage??

My wife likes to keep vehicles for a long time compared to most....usually at least 10yrs and 200k miles or so. When we got her a new 2017 Pacifica a few years ago she was thrilled to get the maxcare lifetime bumper to bumper on it and she is determined to drive that van as long as possible! For her use an extended warranty like this makes perfect sense and the piece of mind of $100 deductible is worth the investment, especially since we drive it a lot and it’s already got almost 50k miles on it. Now for me, I tend to get bored with vehicles quickly and rarely keep one more than 3 years, so an extended warranty doesn’t make any sense. There’s nothing at all wrong with getting one, just depends on personal driving habits whether it’s a good investment or a waste of money.

I had two of their warranties and the ONLY time it was good was for a windshield leak but any time it was engine I may as well paid out of pocket since 99%of the time they said things weren't covered under the warranty .
