Awesome, thank you!!!

Simm....I swapped my wheel on my 2017. If a wheel puller is stopping you from doing it yourself, you really do NOT need a puller. Just about everybody has been able to wiggle it off using your hands working them around the wheel. You will be surprised how easy it pulls off.

As Mpgrimm says, contact Benny at AllMoparParts, get the kit. Save yourself some coin.

Do these buttons scroll through the trailer types on the OEM brake controller? I installed the controller and have no way to select on/off and what type of trailer.

Thanks!

I just installed my switches and now my column shifter won't move. Nothing binding but it's like the truck doesn't know I'm stepping on the brake.

And I can't take the key out of the ignition.

Edit....

I some how unplugged a couple wires that went to the interlock for the brake. All good now!

So I did this upgrade a couple months ago. I did have some trouble getting the steering wheel off but after that it was pretty easy. At first the controls would not work and I had no idea why not. The next day they worked just fine and have been working fine.......... Until last week when my battery bit the dust and I had no juice to the truck at all for about 30 minutes. After installing the new battery the audio controls no longer work. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery but have had no luck. Anyone have any ideas? I didn't have any issues until the battery quit. Thanks.

Installed the volume and channel buttons on my Tradesman recently. Part numbers to complete the task;

1YH75DX9AC Rear Cover which came with both button components already on the cover.

68163713AC harness.

Benny @AllMoparParts.com advised that these 2 part numbers is what is needed, essentially the kit. Thanks Benny.

Everything worked without issues. Surprisingly, the air bag removal was fairly easy. Got to love this forum and those who post great instructions.

Thanks to the wealth of information on here I was able to install the SWACs kit.

I ordered my kit from Benny/AllMoparParts and they ended up shipping the bezel which already had controls installed as well as a second set of controls, so I let them know of the mixup so future orders wouldn't double up on buttons, and shipped my extras back.

It was definitely tricky getting the first airbag clip, but after the first one the next two went much smoother.

I just did this upgrade over the weekend and I wish I would have done it sooner. Works great and now I can start the RA2 to RA3 upgrade piece by piece. Thanks for all the tips on here.

Great write up. I ended up buying a Limited steering wheel with the audio controls already built in. I paid someone to install it though since I didn't want to mess with the upgrade. It is a nice upgrade though to have the controls on the wheel that's for sure.

Does anybody have pictures of the switches installed in the back bezel from the front? Also maybe showing the routing of the new harness in the wheel? I received the switches separately from @AllMoparParts.com due to an issue with my order (Benny is a rockstar BTW!) and I want to make sure I get the switches right the first time. I bought the Lisle airbag removal tool (https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-56200-Removal-Tool-Mopar/dp/B073QWMHMP/) to make things as easy as possible (and reduce the risk of screwing something up!).

I'm going to attempt to do this install today.

Hey
Just completed
Have to agree the air bag is a real PITA
Did the silver front Bezel versis the old Black Bezel Looks alot nicer
All PnP made it super easy all buttons working

Almost crapped taking the steering wheel off, using the Puller got distracted an didnt Protect the Shaft
Crushed the starting threads but realized it before too much damage done
Managed to Get the Bolt back in on assembly but took some work to get bolt started

Lesson learned Protect that steering shaft before adding pressure
ended up putting a small nut between puller shaft an steering shaft

Another way to protect it is to put the steering wheel bolt back in place and screw it in several turns and let the puller push on the head of that bolt. That's what I did and it worked great.

Did the tool make it easier? I got all my parts here, but haven't tried it yet. My new 8.4 radio arrives Thursday would like to do the steering wheel controls at same time as radio install

Yes the tool makes the removal a lot easier. Not really needed but definitely easier.
