Do U have the indicator enabled in your EVIC?

Because in MY 12, and MY 15, I could turn on or off. Same for the MY 19, IMHO...
If I just put it in drive and go, yes. The eco light will come on.

I turned my MDS off and turned the Eco light off so I guess I get the mileage I deserve----even going down hill with a tail wind and foot off the gas----LOL

btw, i didn't notice i difference to speak of with mds on or off at highway speeds, but i did a good trial and around the city for 3 weeks with barely any highway mileage and mds constantly off. boy did my in town number take a hit. my my average mileage decreased from 13.07 mpg to 11.64 mpg. (US). i know it doesn't seem like much, but 90 percent of my driving is city so i like to get every benefit i can:)

when one manually goes and sets gear to 7 or 8 to turn mds off, is mds completely off? is there ANY difference or advantage to running say the Range product to turn mds off vs pushing gear button? could there be ANYTHING the computer still does even if mds is manually turned off with gear selector that may affect driveability? i get a slight shudder at times at shift that someone thought could be a slight misfire, too small to throw CEL. i changed all plugs hoping that may be it but no dice.

I drive in town and anytime I'm below 50 locked in to 7. I think it helps prevent the truck from "lugging" down and stops it from downshifting and upshifting like it's searching for the right gear.

Just FWIW, in town I manually put in gear selection for highest gear which turns off MDS. On Highway, I leave it alone unless going up and down hills and curves, than I manually select 8, LOL. I not care on dat silly *** lil green light in evic, so I turn off. I know when that MDS kicks in which is why 99% of time I manually select highest gear in town.. just IMHO..

PULLYA: Not got AlphaOBD, so no way to make those changes, and with a MY 19th with locked ECU, who knows, and I am not gonna pull and change drive train and such, but then I's a Boird..... (done pulling motors and stuff apart, did my time, oh to have a 1967 327 to play with, LMAO)

When I pass the top end timers and take my boot out of it,the light will come on Jay,lol. My tuner has my 8 speed set to shift at 6600 rpm,so I just put it in drive when I stage, and as soon as I lift, the light will come on

I often forget to do the gear thing to turn off mds until I am already moving-what would happen if I start to do the gear shifting if I am in motion-will the tranny star shifting all over as I move it up to max gear? Have been afraid to do this so I wait for a red light instead.

U can disengage while moving. Take foot off of gas, hit [-} sign, then [+] sign to set highest gear, all good. U do not have to be at a stop.

Interesting...well on my truck for sure when ECO is displayed i can hear the exhaust note change and i can tell im only on 4 cylinders.

When i shift to manual mode no eco is ever displayed and never any exhaust change so it must be disabled in manual mode.

If they aren't tied together they are very closely related
I am with you on this , I have never seen the light come on without hearing the motor cut to 4 cylinders, mind you at hiway speeds , I can't hear the exhaust, unless you put your foot into it. I get way better mileage than I did with my older one with out the 8 sp, same truck other wise, 2009 via 2014 Maybe the HD is set up different?

Yours will be different, on my 8 sp, there is little paddle type shifters on the steering wheel and you just hit the - button and it shifts to 7 th gear ( I guess) and cuts off the MDS.
I have not had a 2500 for yrs, , wife's honda CRV has a button on the side o the shifter and that cuts the OD off, seems like., what type of shifter do you have , on the column?

Does deactivating MDS invalidate the warranty?
Nothing invalidates a warranty unless they can prove the modification was the cause if the failure. (So they say) lol.

But my guess would be that if you deactivated with a tuner, any dealership would instantly jump on that to deny you.

Center console shifter-my favourite Ram shifter-only 6sp though--I always think I should be at a stop before I do this to turn off msd

Just wondering if that is OK for a 2012 bighorn with the center console shifter-you just click the stick left or right-Love it ,just dont want to do any damage to the trans. Maybe I should keep waiting for the inevitable red light or stop sign to turn it off ?

It's fine man. I have a 12 with 6 speed. Although the column shifter. And while i do usually select 6th gest before driving, it doesn't matter.

If you are moving and disengage by slapping the stick over, it just shows you the current gear. So doesn't do anything but start firing on all cylinders.
