This is really not hard to do. The regular cab will most likely not have the connector in the drivers side C pillar for the positive wire for the switch but any (ignition on run) power source should work fine. After that you just find a good ground location for the other wire for the switch and then run the two wires to the window motor and then run the illumination wire for the switch and your done. I tapped into the small LED light in the overhead console that illuminates the center console/jump seat for my illumination. You will need to purchase the repair connector kit for the window motor if you don't have a pre existing harness and need to build your own. The part# is Mopar 5161926AA. This will come with the correct connector for the rear window motor. The connector for the power slider switch is not available from everything we have been able to find. The best way to get the connector is to purchase a used overhead console from a 13 to 18 ram with the rear window switch that still has had the wiring cut and the pig tails are still attached. This is what I did and then I just built the harness from there. I sold my stock overhead console and it was a wash on price. I use mine mostly in the spring and fall because I like the windows down and it stops the buffering and lets the air flow through the cab. These are some pics of the motor and how I routed the cables and wiring when I did my install. You will also need to get a couple of C nuts and two matching bolts from your nearest hardware store to mount the motor to the cab. Since it appears that the regular cab trucks were not offered with a power sliding window you may need to drill the two mounting holes but that shouldn't be that tough to do. cc4afae2d9eff8d6c087ed851064cccb.jpg8d990db1b92f26dd569e6234a4b59060.jpg

Thanks Rick.I would hazard a guess if the holes are in the back cab wall of the CC/QC trucks they should be there in the regular cab versions to,as i'd think they would use the same back center wall in all the trucks

I would tend to agree but wanted to mention it just in case.

What are the cables with springs on the end going into the motor mount?

They are kind of like a shock absorber for the motor and cable system. When the window is fully opened or closed they collaps on either side depending on which way the window is moved. Since I installed my window myself and could see how the system works I always tap the button back for a split second to take the pressure off of the cable and spring assembly went its fully opened or closed. All of those components are assembled. All you need to do is install the the window and mount the motor. The back of the cab has the small holes to insert the push pins mounted to the cable to attach it to the cab.

looking to do something similar to this with my RAM except.... Been searching for a way to retrofit a back window so the entire window rolls down like the Tundra. It's been a year now. [emoji17] still researching.

This is the #1 feature I miss from my Tundra. Toyota offers this on other SUV models too. I can't understand why it's not an option with other Manufacturers. The smooth airflow with the sunroof vented, rear window partially down and all 4 windows up is something I really miss.

I ordered my 2015 2500 with the electric back window. Nice feature. In 70,000 miles I have opened mine maybe 3 times. I still like having the option though. My point is to make sure the money and jumping through rings of fire will be worth it to you.

I didnt know some had a mechanical slider-I thought you had the power slider or just a solid back glass. I use my slider all the time-great for a 16 foot piece of trim etc.

To the best of my knowledge it's only the regular Cab trucks that come with the manual slider. The Quad and Crew cab trucks come with the power slider.

Ha, yeah. I cut my teeth on a 77 Ford FWD, with no AC...Down south of Houston.
Of course, no AC was needed back then. There was a triangular window on each side that you could rotate in and get all the air you needed [emoji57]

Man does that bring back memories, lol. Had a brand new 77 regular cab shortbox F100 in high school with the dual sliding partion back window, lol.Made it slightly easier to get at the beer in the box, lol.Loved that truck as a kid, reason why I bought another regular cab shortbox, after the house emptied out and it's just the boss and I riding in it,lol. Told her I was buying a regular cab shortbox,so the kids wouldn't want to borrow it,lol

If you have a 2017, you *might* already have the wiring in place (but not the motor, obviously.) I'd certainly hope so, else you'll be tearing out the headliner a few side-panels, one of the pillar panels... all of which would royally suck.

Ask that eBay seller if there are instructions, and what would be needed. He/she might not know offhand, but you never know...

(Mine came with a power-sliding window, so I'm afraid I can't be too helpful offhand.)

Check overhead console for wiring harness. I bet it’s already there. And even if you don’t have cutout in ceiling the wiring is probably in driver side pillar.

I have done this to my truck and another truck and had the headliner down on other trucks for various reasons. In my experience if you have a Tradesman or an Express the wiring is Not present. The harness is part of the headliner. They use a different headliner for the trucks that do not have the power sliding rear window option. The 2 trucks I did were a 2014 and a 2016 so I cannot say for sure it's not there on a 2017 but I can't see any reason why they would change it on a 2017. The next version up from that headliner includes the wiring for the sun visor lights the wiring for the rear window switch and the wiring for the switch to turn the cab light on and off. The trucks that don't come with an overhead console at all have a completely different headliner that has None of the wiring for anything. This is why the Mopar kit to install the overhead console comes with a wiring kit to tap into your wiring so you can at least have the interior dome lights but no other options. The wiring for the power slider operation is not controlled through the wiring in the A pillar in the factory configuration. It taps into the wiring in the drivers side C pillar. The properly pinned connector was present on my truck to install my harness but I have seen other trucks that were not pinned that had different configurations and trim options. This is a picture of where I tapped into the power for my power slider. It's the pink wire with yellow stripe. I actually had the correct color wire from other harnesses I had bought from wrecked trucks so I used it for my I install. All the trucks I have done have been Quad Cab and Crew Cab trucks. I have heard the wiring is not present for Regular Cab trucks as well but I have no first hand knowledge. 44c94325d94ef7669bd7a1bedfcacf0d.jpg

Did you install the glass yourself, or have a glass shop do it?

I had a glass shop do it. They charged me $100. I removed the back seat and all the trim. They removed the old window and mounted the new one. I mounted the motor with the two C nuts and bolts, drove it home finished mounting everything and installed the harness.

If your Ram does NOT have a power slider then you do NOT have the wiring in the headliner. This same principle applies to the cargo camera. No cargo camera? Then NO wires for it in the headliner either. Unfortunately as Rick'sRam mentions the wiring harness is part of the headliner, its embedded into the headliner. Want the factory harness? You have to buy the complete headliner which runs $800-1K. I know all this because I added a cargo camera (M2Mods made me a custom harness) and also wanted to add the power slider because I too own one of the unicorns according to Ram which is a regular cab. Regular cabs do not come with a power slider, only manual, and do not have the wiring in place. Have not done the power slider yet, due to my severe case of OCD I am just hesitant in ripping out a non-leaking rear manual slider. Plus a glass shop needs to do the removal and install the new one. And if I do go ahead with it then I will just have M2Mods make me another OEM like harness for the power slider.
