Who else loves that they're continuing on with the Ram classic?

I think it's a great idea that they're doing this. Theyll still profit on the trucks even if margins are low as all the tooling have been paid for many years ago. It may cannibalize sales of the 5th gen a bit but overall more trucks sold = more profit on the backend when it's time to service.

I plan to keep my truck 15-20years so it would be nice to find parts newer than my 2017 that will fit ie. Fenders, hood, box, etc

why is this a good thing?
Looks, maybe. well, DEFINITELY looks, the newest are ugly.

But besides looks...
other threads warn against buying a series in its last year - or after its third year. The theory is that the bugs have been taken out, sure, but the bean counters and efficiency experts have cheapened materials substitutions and shortcuts such that quality is an issue. Also that early bugs have been fixed but latter bugs ignored.

Just a conspiracy theory, but not my idea. Just repeating what the community have said in other threads about which years to buy and which years not to buy.

Using their theory, how is it that a classic in 2020 is a safe bet for quality?

GREAT!
I hope they continue it beyond 2020 too...
Like other have mentioned, get rid of the hood badge crap, the big RAM on the gate, the Chevy like grill, and I'd actually like the new truck (because it would look like the old/classic truck then)... LoL...
Honestly, those hood badges gotta go though...
The gen 5 is nice, but it's way to similar to the Chevy and Ford...

I'm glad they not really for any reason other than they will have more 4ths on the road meaning more parts etc available.

Exactly...and for those of us who are DIY (and if you're here, you definitely DIY), that's a big plus when it comes to repair, replace or mod time.

I'm a "cutting edge" guy myself, will get a 5th gen when the time comes (probably about another 20k miles down the road, so another two years or so), but to each their own.

Im the same. Plus, I’m apparently odd man out in this 4th gen forum in that I actually like the look of the 5th gen better. When I was looking for a new truck a couple of years ago, I drove a GMC, F150 and Ram. The ONLY reason I bought the Ram was options for the dollar and ride quality. I thing the GMC looks miles better, with the F150 not far behind, and the Ram down the line somewhere. The 5th gen Ram is a huge improvement in the looks department in my opinion.

I'm not feeling the love for the new looks. Too Fordy-Chevy looking, but whatever. Just my useless opinion.
One of the biggest reasons I loved the Ram was because they retained a more classic rugged truck look as opposed to the competition that seemed to go in a more plasticy aero dynamic direction.

Another big reason I went with the leftover 2500. When I needed a new truck of course my first impulse was a 1500 but just wasn't digging the looks, or the price. I was in a pinch so I really couldn't wait on a custom ordered classic as the dealer inventory was limp for classics at the time.
So I found a 2500 at a sister dealer that had everything I wanted for less than the similarly equipped 1500 so I pulled the trigger. My dealer went and picked it up and I was behind the wheel in a few days, instead of months.

I am still waiting for a remake of the lil red express from the seventies with a hemi. Why not, they brought back the challenger.
The hemi would probably sound awesome coming out of those twin pipe stacks if those were actually functional, I imagine they were, anyone?

I almost went for the gmc as I liked the looks and after coming from a 4.7 ram and two engines I was leaning that way, read up about the 3.6 ram and went to ram dealership first and ended up buying it.I like the 2019 rebel,it looks class. The new rams with the chrome on them don't look good at all.The chrome seems out of place or something.
I believe there's a chap on here with a 4th gen 2500 that has put the interior out of the 2019 in and it looks top class,I believe it took a few modifications but it worked.

Question for the group please.
I just bought used, a lease/rental fleet truck. VIN # lookup shows original sticker description
as 2019 RAM 1500 Classic SLT Crew Cab 4x4.

When looking for DIY parts, bedliner, seat covers, nerf bars, etc., I find no one lists SLT as available option for 2019, only Tradesman, Express, BigHorn, Warlock etc.

Isn't my truck just a 2018 1500 SLT that was made in 2019?
If I order parts using the 2018 SLT pulldown on websites, am I going to get the wrong stuff?

Thanks for any feedback.

I am. If something happens to my truck in the near future I won't have to buy a Ford or Chevy.

I thought the main Idea with the classic was to offer the regular cab option. Any word on the 5th gen regular cab?

I also prefer the 4th gen styling over the 5th gen.

That’s correct, anything from a 2018 will fit your 2019 classic

I did also when they first came out. The 5th gens been growing on me. I am torn between trading in my 2014 4x4 crew Express or fixing up the few door dings and dents I have accrued with it.
